will an 18psi carter lift pump be too much pressure for a duramax? i was given the pump is why im asking.
I thought I read somewhere that anything over 12psi is hard on the ficm.
I dont see how it could effect the FICM
I could easily be wrong as I'm not all that familiar with the workings of the fuel system...but doesn't the FICM use fuel flow to cool the electronics? I was under the impression that the FICM is only designed for a certain psi and 12 psi seemed to be the magic number.
If I am way off, I apologize...
I think the deal was excessive psi put tension against the circut board? Thats possible Yes fuel cools it.Not very well But i would like to open a fried FICM to verify how or if PSI can affect it. I doubt fuel actually contacts the circut board.
Ahhhhh, thanks Simon! Thats an LLY FICM is it not? My LB7 the inlet/outlet are right next to each other on the top. But the insides are prolly the same?
sounds like while it may not be bad at first, it will end up doing some damage in the long run which is not worth it in my opinion.
Useing a boost reference would be probably the best way to do it.
Keeping the pressure low when not needed and utilizing the pressure at WOT
