im wanting to buy some goodies with my tax return I tow a lot of heavy trailer gross around 30,000lbs, tractors and round bales, I run a ats hot +2 programmer I want to know how good this set up would work for me or if anyone has one similar please talk about it. what I want to get is a raptor lift pump, ppe stage 5 trans, and a garret stage 2 3094avnt turbo. I don't plan on head studding yet I don't plan on excessive horse power probably just some 30% over injectors later in life

If your getting all of that I would do efi live with it too, I would think the stock turbo is good for towing, stock turbo with built trans and the turbo break tune. Or twins but that's alot more. Maybe some airbags.

If you plan to use the exhaust brake, a 4094 does not work as well as the stocker. A LBZ and LMM stock turbo will dang near bring you to a stop if programmed accordingly, especially if it has no egr to bleed the pressure back through intake.

thanks for that input ^ il maybe just get the trans and efi try that and see how I like it my turbos just starting to get wore out and was going to upgrade it but the turbo brake will benefit me alot

Stick with the stocker if you plan on towing alot. Nothing tows better than stock turbo, built trans, efi, and a lift pump. IMO.

Soo, if you're looking to tow, and the vehicle is primarily a work vehicle, or used daily for work purposes that require or would benefit from a turbo brake tune, KEEP THE STOCK TURBO if your stocker is gettin wore out, you could always send it off to a place like Danville performance for a rebuild with a larger billet comp wheel and larger turbine (I think..) that would get you a charger capable of a solid 600whp for the fun times and retain a usable turbine break for towing/work duties.

I upgraded to the 4094 and now had that worked over by Mark into a vgt72. The vvt4094 in standard trim is a dog of a turbo, IMO...it's laggy and has a sorta bland power band and as far as a turbine break, forget about it, it's so weak it's nearly pointless...srsly

The VGT72's turbine break isn't much better, although it is better. However it's a beast of a turbo, no complaints about/with it whatsoever:thumb: however, I wasn't expecting to have a "functional" turbine break, although I do miss the stock turbo's turbine break, it'll damn near stop a truck and 10k trailer on a 4% grade! the turbine break of the 4094 would barely maintain the speed of an empty truck on the same grade if not in a gear that generated enough rpm/drive pressure.

Personally if it were me, and I was looking to get 500-550 whp out of a daily driven work truck that tows the weight you do, I'd do something like this:

Lift pump
HD air bags
Built transmission
Transfer case rub fix
Re-build the stock turbo into a "stock hybrid"
3" downpipe
EGR DELETE/blocker plate
I personally would upgrade the y-bridge to a solid 3" unit
Built trans EFI Live tuning w/DSP5 switch
Mod the stock air box (it's capable of moving enough air for 550hp) or get a sweet sealed intake if you don't mind spending the money...
Traction bars, a set of 60" bars for a crew cab or a set of cal tracs
A good set of gauges or a digital interface to read operating parameters
Port the drivers side fuel rail....

A set up like that would take me some time to put together, and when finished would yield a pretty sweet truck with tons of potential for either work or play...and if it wasn't enough for you then, you'd have a good solid platform ready for more when you are

There's a few other things that could and should be done along the way, like lessening the weakness of the IFS and steering rack, a good set of shocks, maybe some 40% injectors and a modded LBZ CP3, IMO UCA's are a nice upgrade for any configuration too...

Lol, that's what I'd do, pretty much what I did before I went to the 4094...:thumb:

Good luck:angel:

I have towed with stock, 4094, danville 72,and an s480 over the 72. Stock and my current twin setup pull the best. As far as slowing down, cant beat the stock turbo brake.

stock turbo with a s475 over top of it is the best turbo brake. Once the stocker spools it spools the bigger turbo then bam you just about come to a stop. I can tell a big difference between my twin turbo brake and my stocker turbo break. All in all I'd still rather tow with just a lonely stock turbo.

so the danvile turbo's use the stock turbine house, with a larger compressor house..?? or just a stock house with a larger/ported intake area..?? are the compressors the same outer diameter as stock with a larger intake diameter..?? or does the compressor have a larger diameter also, just stuffed into the stock house..??

could a 4094 sized compressor and housing be run on the stock turbine housing..??

has anyone run a danville 68 with a towing setup like what the OP is trying to do..?? Sometimes twins is just not in possible....

I've towed with a Danville 68mm billet, towed better than stock. I hauled everything with it. Boat to 40k loads. Was a great set up for single, I loved it. However sold it and went to twins to be different around my neck of the woods.

I was running 68mm, built trans, supporting mods and marks tuning.

Dont put an ATS trans in there. There are several good builders out there and I've heard waaayyyyyy too many mixed reviews on ATS. JMO
