Hey guys, been awhile since I've had to make a post on here.
2006 2500hd 2wd LBZ K&N air filter and straight piped are only mods. The filter has been there since I got it 8 years ago and I do clean it out and re-coat it. Hope to get rid of it soon.

Came home from work the other night and everything was normal as usual. Got down to about 26 here, so when I got up for work I hooked the plug up for the glow plugs for maybe...10-15 minutes. The day before I noticed it sounded a little hard to start first thing in the morning, so that's why I plugged it up for a few minutes. Anyway, when I left, I noticed it was very late to shift from 1st to 2nd and then was getting up to about 2300rpm and 55mph before it'd shift to 3rd, all while making a whining/revving noise before hitting 3rd. When I would slow down, it would almost short shift down two gears when I got to about 10-15 mph. Same thing occurred the yesterday morning, so stopped and picked up a new fuel filter. Changed it out last night and then went out to drive it down the road to see if anything changed. 1st to 2nd is much better but I'm still having the issue of it going into 3rd. Check engine light is on but was on before due to a glow plug (still need to change). Will be stopping by today to get the CEL ran again to see if anything else comes up. Also, I just filled up with diesel last week, wondering if I got some bad diesel. Last fuel filter and oil change was 5k ago.
This is my DD so trying to do what I can before taking it somewhere.

That plug is for the block heater. The glow plugs always come on and run off your batteries.

Which sound like they could be getting weak. Weak batteries can cause all kinds of strange problems.

I'd start with those but what was your trans temp when that happened? What's the fluid level? Also when was the last fluid and filter in that. How's the fluid in the transfer case?

How many miles on it?

Try and get codes. There is only 1 check engine light, but there could be a lot of codes.

Stopped by Advance to get the codes read. 31 of them appeared..from misfiring cylinders, glowplugs to communication lost. Taking it to a shop tomorrow

Have your batteries tested before you bring it to a shop. I have seen several vehicles throw communication faults and random misfires due to low battery voltage. If you are having a slow crank, you may have a battery going bad and draining the other. If you know anyone competent in vehicle diagnostics bring it to them, I have never met anyone working at a common parts store that knows anything besides what their battery tester tells them.

Yea I just stopped by Advance because I know they had a reader and I nor anyone I personally know has one. The guy that hooked up the scanner actually referred me to a local diesel mechanic. Anyway, will check the batteries. Thanks for the info

Showing 12V after 3hrs of sitting.

Could I have caused this issue by hooking the block heater up above 20degrees? I had it plugged up for 15minutes before I left for work the morning it started..outside temp was only about 26.
