LBZ no start issue

Ok I have slowly been piecing back this straight basket case lbz that two different people disassembled. It is a built motor, twin cp3's, HTT turbo, bd manifolds, ect. I started with a short block in the truck and put it together from there.
now its all back together and just cranks, does not fire, but chugs out white smoke out the exhaust. Does fire and immediately die with a touch of starting fluid. Pulled the glow plugs to do a comp test and they were wet but didn't have the right stuff do do the test. Looked it over all day today and still couldn't figure it out. Thoughts?

Where can I get a quality compression tester at? What are you guys using?

Ok, so I swapped ecm's, no change, rechecked grounds, cam, and crank sensors, and no change. The only things no plugged in are the maf, vane pos. sensor, and another one that goes to the factory turbo. I'm thinking that the valves aren't adjusted right to allow for enough compression to fire. Waiting on my comp tool to come in the mail and will find out. . .

I just rebuilt mine and had same problem. It took bout 30 minutes cranking and two battery swaps before mine finally fired. I just think it takes a long while before all air is purged out of the rails. I used a really good big starter box. Don't use ether either. Bad things will happen, lol.

Have you tried fiddling around with the maf sensor? It's an lbz. There is no way it shouldn't start!

Have you data logged while cranking to see if it is building rail pressure? It sounds like you may have at least one bad injector.

It's got 4k rail when cranking.

Sounds like a harness problem to me. Startin fluid is a scary deal tho. Lol good luck. Curious to see what it is when u get it fixed.

Got it to fire today. The maf plug was cut, it has been, and didn't think of it causing any issues but I redid the pins and wired it back up and plugged it in. Not sure if that was it or if it just finally cranked enough but it fired right up. So I don't know if the cut bare wires from the maf could have been touching each other or grounding out on something to cause a no start or if it was just coincidence that when I wired it back up and it started.

i knew it was that maf sensor.... was it smoking alot when it fired up?
