LBZ/LMM Full Flash & Locking NOW RELEASED!

EFILive is pleased to release our latest update which now includes the functionality to perform a full reflash on the 06 LLY, LBZ and LMM Bosch ECM's. Whilst we currently have no custom operating systems for these ECM's this well and truly puts us on the right path.

Please read our full software release notes here http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?t=9671

This is the next step to having DSP capability on the newer trucks. When I talked to the guys at SEMA they said around March they should have the DSP stuff ready. The only thing is the computer doesn't have any extra ports for a DSP switch so you will have to do it with the V2. But you can do it on the fly, that is all that matters.

Exactly. I could care less if it was a switch or a controller, on the fly is all that matters too me.

Also, please make sure you have your V2 plugged in to the USB port before you open up the Tuning Tool. The software checks this before allowing the Full Flash option to appear.

The missing file Ross posted about won't affect you SlowLMM as your OS is fine.

So heres a question......

Can I read (from a truck that has gotten it) the new GM os for LMM that the dealer has been putting in that theres a recall for and load it into my truck then build, script, or copy my current tunes over that OS?

Yes the OS that has the "no start" issue fix.t...

Cool deal... and I just told someone this weekend this isn't available yet on the LBZ/LMM. Made a liar out of me. :D

How about the TCM?? Can the 06+ TCMs be fully flashed???

Yes you can, but I wouldn't recommend it. You might find "funky" things in your ECM like the LB7 and LLY guys. There is a whole lot of information that gets flashed in, and some of your options may not work depending on the options of the truck you got the OS from.

Why you think you need this feature?
At this stage we've received less than a handful of requests and to be honest most of those requests don't have a valid reason why they want it - "just because" it's available for other controllers seems to be the main theme.

Sorry for being ignorant, but I don't fully understand. This update allows "on the fly" tune changes correct?
What does the "full reflash" have to do with it? How can you switch tunes on the fly with the V2 plugged in if:
The full reflash process will take approx 10 minutes.
I'm guessing that we need to do a full reflash (10 minutes) to change the ECM to allow us to do on the fly changes with the V2?
If anyone has a minutes, could you please explain this process?
What IS a DSP tune? I guess its a tune you have, make some minor changes to it that allow it to be swiched on the fly? Or is it a completly new tune that has to be written?
Now I need a cool mount for EFI live V2 controller.
We need a 90 degree OBDII plug to allow the V2 to stay plugged in without the cable pooking you in the knee. Something similar to the one for the ScanGugage II setup. Will their cable work?

One more stupid question:
Is the V2 lcd screen capable of displaying info real time like the scangauge?

The update is for full flashing. I thnk the idea of switch on the fly is closer now that they have full flashing figured out.

Yes the V2 displays real time data.
"Black box logging gives you the freedom to log data under all circumstances without a laptop computer in the vehicle. Wide band O2, 5V analog voltage and thermocouple inputs allow you to integrate data from most external sensors directly with EFILive’s logged data stream".

No. This update allows full flashing.

Full flashing allows you to change your Operating System.

If you wish to change OS, then you require full flashing. The flashing process takes about 9 minutes. This is 2 and a half times faster than a Tech II which takes 25 minutes to full flash. One reason for full flashing is if you don't have the latest LMM OS update, you no longer need to go to the dealer - you can program it in with EFILive if someone sends you the file (and they have the same vehicle options as you_

What IS a DSP tune? I guess its a tune you have, make some minor changes to it that allow it to be swiched on the fly? Or is it a completly new tune that has to be written?
DSP stands for Duramax Switchable Position tune. It's a function we released 3 or 4 years ago for LB7 and LLY users. It allows the user to full flash their ECM with a custom OS. Within that custom OS we allow users to create either 2 or 5 different tunes that can be switched on the fly. Switching occurs by 2 methods for LB7 and LLY - either wire in and install a switch or use the FlashScan V2 controller to toggle between tunes. You full flash your 2 or 5 tunes in once, then change tunes instantly as many times as you like.

Many users want this functionality for LBZ/LMM, unfortuantely with the change in ECM from Delphi to Bosch the development cycle for this type of functionality needs to start from scratch (hence why there are limited on the fly tuners for LBZ/LMM). To do so, we need to implement 3 different phases of development to our software.
1. Allow switchable tuning via V2 - this is released for LB7 and LLY.
2. Allow full flashing of the LBZ/LMM ECM - this is the release thread for that functionality.
3. Write DSP code for LBZ/LMM - Ross will commence work on this phase over the next few weeks. We have no ETA on when this feature will be available.
Now I need a cool mount for EFI live V2 controller.
We need a 90 degree OBDII plug to allow the V2 to stay plugged in without the cable pooking you in the knee. Something similar to the one for the ScanGugage II setup. Will their cable work?
The cable that is supplied with FlashScan is the only cable that will work due to the data communications required.

Hope this helps
Cheers

My initial instructions were not clear - my bad. Our download process has changed to move away from HUGE downloads. We now create a general release, then incremental releases. The general release is on our website and the incremental releases can only be installed by clicking on Start->All Programs->EFILive->V7.5->Tools->Check for New Updates.

If you are running 7.5.5 (build 72 or 74), then all you need to do is click Start->All Programs->EFILive->V7.5->Tools->Check for New Updates and install build 77. This will install this functionality. Please confirm your build number if you are still having problems.

If this doesn't resolve your issue, can you please go back over the instructions and make sure you follow them word for word.

Cheers
Cindy
