LBZ/LMM Cooling Stack on LML Engine

Hi,

I'm using an LML from a '14 in a squarebody c20 swap. The LML cooling stack is physically too large to fit in the front of the truck, so I'm looking at going to the LBZ/LMM stack which is roughly 4" shorter and I believe it will fit. Now I'm looking to figure out the logistics of making the swap happen.

I rummaged through GM Parts Direct and their exploded diagrams and came up with the following parts- qty 1 for each-

Radiator

Inter-cooler

Fan Blade

Rear Shroud

Rear Shroud Bracket
Part Number: 15122831

minus the mounting of the intercooler(core support and such), is this everything that makes up the LBZ/LMM cooling stack? Is it correct to order 1 of each, mostly questioning the rear shroud brackets.

Will the rear shroud bolt to the LML engine like the factory LML shroud bolts up?

Will the LBZ/LMM fan bolt to the LML clutch? I read it is different, I'm curious if anyone has figured out how to make it work? The LML and LBZ/LMM fan is different diameters correct?

Anyone else think of something I haven't? Appreciate any help. Thanks!

I think you would save yourself a bit of time and a LOT of money trying to find a crashed donor truck for the cooling stack.

I'm currently sourcing the plastic items through a local yard. The rad and intercooler I can get new from GM for ~300each or so.

I'm really concerned whether the rear shroud will bolt to the LML engine.

I'm guess the shroud will bolt up just fine. Not 100% sure though.

But the lml does have a different style intercooler cold side coupler than an lmm, so you might have to change the lml y bridge and cold side piping to use the lmm intercooler.

Where it is a C20 swap I would assume all the intercooler piping will be custom anyways.

yes I'll work through the plumbing later- but I really appreciate the heads up.

Biggest concern is getting the engine/trans in the truck with the rad and such in front of it.

I put a lml in a LMM truck and had to use the LMM radiator and fan shroud, end up having to cut fan aground to get it to fit tho, the lml engine sits lower then LMM, and lml fan shroud opening is bigger. I got it to work tho, so I know you can! Good luck bud!
