Truck in my sig. I’m having a problem with high egts when doing a hard take off. I started with josh’s race tune he had posted and been playing with it some, I’ve tried adding timing, tried pulling fuel, and tried adding fuel but nothing seems to make a difference. I can post the logs, or tune with my changes if anyone has any ideas? I’m not losing rail pressure, building 30-33 lbs of boost, timing is following what is being commanded. A little Smokey when rolling back into it but I just haven’t figured out the new turbo for that yet. But once turbo spools smokes gone and it’s clean as can be but egts start climbing and quickly hit 1600 plus. Truck still has plenty of room to keep going but got to let out. Think I’m only on 4th gear at that point. Thanks for any help

High EGTs on a race tune is pretty normal. What sort of 63mm VGT are you running?

I get that, but it gets so hot so quick I couldn’t do any type of race ha. Maybe make it an 1/8 mile but no way could I make it a 1/4 without melting something. It’s a stock turbo reworked with a 63mm billet wheel. I can give you all the specs when I get back to the shop if that helps.

Egts aren’t generally a issue over short periods of time. You shouldn’t have a issue in the 1/8th or 1/4. Any max effort tune is going to get warm fast. I’ve seen 1700-1800 regularly. And know people that have buried a 2000 degree gauge. As long as you don’t hold it forever it’s no a issue to be concerned about.

Well Alright then, I was just thinking that 1700 plus was too hot even for short times. It runs crazy good but I haven’t actually gotten to see what it’ll do on a track yet

Any pointers on how to clear smoke up on rolling acceleration?
