I'm looking at buying an LBZ engine that has everything stripped off except for the heads, internals and oil pan; comes with some of the accessories thrown in the box- no injectors, no turbo: they are asking $600 for it, but it has a "dropped" valve.

Would this be an ok engine to start with for a mild budget build ?
LB7 Pistons (cut & coated), rods (undecided), clevite h bearings, SoCal springs, ect...

Hmmm... I feel retarded now :/

The owner is sending me pics via email, it's gonna come with a whole host of parts. I'll have him send me a pic if the cylinder.

He "had a quit to replace the sleeve for $65"...

I though it sounded weird but really didn't look into it

Yeah, that's where I found it. He claims that it only has 700 miles. But w/e if the block isn't salvageable, I'll turn it into a table and sell it

Duramax's don't come with sleeves but you can master sleeve nearly any engine. over bore it, pess a sleeve in, then bore it to stock, or whatever size you want.

Good to know; I'm waiting on more pics. Supposedly the motor has 700 miles on it and it came out if a military humvee; and it is for sure an LBZ.

I work with HMMWV's everyday and not one has a Duramax in it... The navy runs a CUCV and they are just regular Chevrolet with a dual alternator and the option to switch from 12v to 24v. That is the only military vehicle that comes with a Duramax though.
I wish HMMWV's had the Duramax though... would be alot cheaper to get parts :roflmao:

Dropped a valve after only 700 miles? Doesn't sound right. It would have still been under factory warranty at that time. That would be the least mileage anyone ever got out of a Duramax. I smell BS.

I ended up passing on it, the owner wasn't in a big hurry to sell it, and I got sick of waiting on him. I didn't see the pics of the parts initially; I wasn't going to go buy it until I saw the rest of the parts.
