IIRC, the EGR is not supported by the riser, but by a dedicated casting to the head. Use a normal blocker plate to shut off EGR when using a federal or modified LBZ pipe.

This is the intake riser off my truck. The kit I bought had the 2 ports welded closed when you delete the egr, but the kit comes with a bracket. My idea was to weld my stock ports shut, then swap it out on my buddies truck leaving the egr motor in place along with the cooler and using a standard blocking plate where the cooler attaches to the uppipe. My thinking is that the egr will support this intake riser, but now the egr is totally out of the picture.

But I could be wrong, we havent had time to put on his truck yet, waiting for hockey season to get over.

I have never seen an LBZ up close, so I dont know, surely the same principle would apply. If you dont mind waiting a few week until I can tie Jerrys truck down, I'll let you know if what I want to do to it will work, that might save others some time, since I have the parts ready to go and you wouldnt end up screwing up something that wont work.
