Hey guys may have a future western pa work stock puller here. Looking for some experienced motor advice. I'm going to hope and pray the bottom end holds together for one season. I'm thinking an exergy 10mm with 40 or 60% injectors? Turbo has to be OEM. Not year specific so lly turbo would be an option. Pro fab or ppe manis and up pipes? Arp head studs with c gaskets. Is a port and polish job on my heads worth the money for my application? If so what about valve springs?? Probably going to put the life of my truck with bobo's tuning but not 100% yet. Thanks for the advice in advance guys.

Remove all sharp edges in your engine first of all. Go through your oiling system including your pump (if you want). Remove sharp edges on your connecting rods, crankshaft if you feel, and lips on your pistons and heads for combustion purposes (heat absorption reduction). Check all bores for concentricity especially in the main bores on any engine used to haul some serious loads.

Learn bottom end assembly THOROUGHLY. I bought Reher-Morrison's Championship Engine Assembly book to see what it takes for a top of the line mill. Its well worth it to see. Engine assembly can be the deal breaker plain and simple.

If you got it apart may as well throw some LBZ/LMM rods in it-a little stronger. Also run a LBZ turbo-it's bigger than an LLY.
Port and polish is big bucks-up to you if you want to do it. Dollar vs HP I wouldn't bother for your build. Definetly change the springs and go with something heavier and have the guides checked for wear. I had a head with all the guides worn out at 100 000miles but the other head was good still!

the lly charger is bigger and u can throw a batmo in it I think that would be a nasty set up with 100% injectors and a 10mm cp3 should be around 600 hp if not more

I don't know much about pulling at all but I feel like getting your front end beefed up and suspension correct would be more important than making the most power at least at first for that class. If you could put all of the stock power to the ground effectively it would be better than making lots of power then having your front wheels go in different directions..I could be way off tho just thinking out loud

Go with 60% or bigger injectors. I have a lead on a low mileage LLY charger, text me if you want info. I see no need to even tear a valve cover off until you need to. Head porting, even head studs, save till you have to kinda thing. If you are not going to put a straight center link on it, don't waste your money on the cognito braces, just get the allseason brace.

The front end will def have the all seasons brace, sleeves, e-locker, and bump stops. I should be ok on chassis setup, just wanted the expert advice on the motor aspect of the truck.

Caleb does great work and all the trucks he tunes run excellent. Im more interested in learning how to do it myself than paying somebody to do it, anybody can do that. just looking for advice at this point.

Nope you were correct. It was the mouthpiece that is bigger on an LBZ. My bad.

Need to get my truck running-losing my grip on things Dmax!!

When I put a Lilly turbo on my lbz I blew it up in 2 weeks pulling. Course I still daily drive the truck everyday ( and when I do that I'm not easy on anything.) That could have been because the turbo was sitting for about a year in the garage before being put on. So maybe it got alittle rusty. Still had oil residue in it though I never capped the fittings off. Could have been a fluke, but that is my experience with that turbo.

Sounds to me like a waste of $50 and a lot of time to me. Why go through that trouble?
