theres just something about the lb7 that's stays close to any diesel junkys heart atleast mine does:thumb: what size swampers are those

She definitely has a special place in my heart. The sound and cold start smell takes me right back to college every time.
Q78-16 is what's on the sidewall.
Measure out to 35" tall and about 11" wide. Fit perfect on the 6.5" wide wheels.

Put the old truck to work delivering a friend/customers truck. Years of use and abuse have taken their toll on the rear springs. They do not handle weight like they should. I wont pull a load with it again till those get replaced. 20200104_090447.jpg20200104_090235.jpg

You need to scale that thing. 220k on mine with springs about a 1/4” from the over loads at ride height, then adding 2500lbs pin weight doesn’t even sag it that much.

Im betting you flat have too much pin weight for 2500 springs to begin with. Time for bags or 3500 springs

I'll bet there's almost 5k of tounge weight on that trailer empty. With the way that's loaded you are looking at 9-10k To the pin.

It's a heavy trailer. Truck was just about on the bump stops before the load. Trailer is About 7k pounds empty according to the title. Assuming pin weight is 25% that's a little over 1500 pounds. I could have moved the load back another few feet but it was raining and I haven't replaced the ABS module in the lb7 yet so I wanted some weight on the truck.

I've had that trailer on other 2500 duramax that did not squat nearly as much so I'm fairly sure the springs are fatigued.

It doesnt have to work anymore. My F250 handles that trailer like a champ. I was just curious how the lb7 would do. The Ford being 13 yrs newer makes a big difference. I'm sure lml/l5p are lightyears ahead too.

No way is it that heavy on the pin. My loader tractor is rated to pick up 1800 pounds and it will pick up the front of that trailer empty without sweating much.

Never mind, you lowered it and left the truck leveled, makes it look worse than it is. Your ford is nose high with the lb7 on it when you brought it home as well. Either way, your 1500 plus I’d say 2500+ pin weight added with the truck on there so 4k or more isn’t bad considering you put different shackles on that effectively lower the springs spring rate.

Awesome story dude, and good for your getting your truck back. I wish I could get my 92 Dodge W250 that I bought when I was 18 back. They guy I sold it to still own the truck, but unfortunately a tree fell on it.

Thanks. I've put about 3500 miles on it since making this thread. Nice to have it back for sure

But yes, both trucks have 2.5" longer (so roughly 1-1.5" drop) shackles to level them instead of raising the front. So I am starting out level. But all of the various other lly's that I have had had the same shackles and they did not squat as much with similar loads as the lb7 is. Which is what leads me to believe that 430k miles and 18 years have flattened out the rear springs a good bit

Got her back from paint and put back together. Paint and body isnt perfect but it's more daily driver than show queen so I'm good with it. I'll get some pics of the inside tomorrow 20200505_183529.jpg
