Can u put a lb7 turbo on an lbz? I like the sound of the lb7 it's a lot throwtier then the lbz. Just wondering if it could b done I have access to a lb7 stock engine.

Eh, I don't think the ihi is as bad as its made out to be, it's no fun to change but it's not an awful turbo. I wonder why people think he would be better off spending $3k+ on an upgrade if he's happy with the performance of the ihi.

Not worth the hassle. You have to modify the whole intake side of either the turbo or the y bridge . Then you have to custom rune the lbz.... Why not just have a tuner make you a tune with the lb7 idle and if you want a throatier sound put an aftermarket down pipe. It gets rid of most of the hissing sound the vvt's make. No need to take a step back with a lb7 turbo.

He's never had an ihi so what's he comparing it to? The stock ihi is by far worse than the turbos from the other model duramaxes.

So pretty much just tune it w efi and get a 3"down pipe and 5" exhaust and it will sound good? Sounds a lot easier then a turbo swap. I really appreciate yals input. New to the forum and love it so far

I have a diamond eye down pipe to 5in turbo back with 6inthe tip. Sounds awesome. It changed now cause i put my mpi twins on, different down pipe now and re route of exhaust. Actually got quieter. But efi can make it sound alot like an lb7 if thats what your goin for.

can you? probably, but think about the Y bridge and intake horn...

not worth it IMO..

better excuse to swap the higher flowing LB7 y-bridge and intake runners on as well ;) :D

You wont ever be able to make a variable vein turbo sound like a LB7 turbo. they still have that "whoosh" sound at high RPM and whistle as soon as you give her some throttle.

Technically you can swap them. It's not gonna drop right in and you will have to make tuning changes.
