Guys,

I have an offer for 20K for my truck, built trans, turbo, etc all included, which is not bad but not great price either. And the guy wants to trade his 2015 SLT cummins crew cab 4x4 with 992 miles. Not impressed with the build costs of a 68rfe but good mileage and brand new truck for 40K doesnt seem bad.

Anyone have any words of wisdom? I know I will not like the power difference. My lb7 runs great.

It's a good motor wrapped in a crappy shell and the ones I've rode in ride rough as hell too. I wouldn't do it.

15s are night and day difference from 12-14.

Honestly 20k is a great price for a 01 extended cab lb7....

Exactly what I was thinking. 20k cash I would throw the keys at them

I know it's your truck and your probably quite fond of it but that's my opinion. Some guy offered 24k cash for my LLY with 160K miles and she was out of my driveway quick.

My truck only has 87k miles but my concern is the 15 cummins worth it?

Brian what are the differences?

Front suspension is all new on the 15's, as is the rear. They did away with leaf springs and went to a 4 link style with coil's. Mine rode better than any duramax ive owned. I was impressed. For a solid axle up front, it rides better than I had expected. I put the Kelderman kit in the back so it's 100% on air and it rides better than with just coils.

IMHO, the interior is way better on 15+ than any other year cummins. Mine is a SLT longhorn and came with the big in dash screen like a Denali, as well as the center console front screen.

When the 15's came out with the black out package I was eyeballing them, but after riding in one I was sold. Yeah, I miss the power, but it has a warranty and I will have the power in the LS truck. I think my 15 is 380/800 and it has 3.42's.

I get 19mpg as it sits with 5500 miles on it. I don't rack them up very fast as I drive the half ton everywhere.

Thanks Brian I appreciate it. The one I'm looking at is the basic truck but has 3.42's and the ride is much better than I thought. For the price and what I can get from mine I don't think I can beat it. Power will be missed haha. Dearly. But it's a more functional truck for passengers and long drives.

If you are gonna drive the 15 Cummins like a white man I would probably do it. The problem I see with the Dodge in general is that every trans that they offer is an over priced pos! The Aisin and 68rfe are sloshboxes and the standard trans cant take the torque the Cummins builds. If they had a good built trans solution maybe but their built trans are waaay expensive with stock shafts and no billets. They break and will cost you $$$$$ unless you are gonna be nice to it......

I agree.

But im good till 100k with it being stock. And personally, Im not going to do anything to the truck until it has emissions issues.

Which will probably be tomorrow :roflmao:

I was definitely pampered being in an Allison for years, to go to that, to a 68 was a big change, I still am not comfortable with it, but it is what it is.

Main thing I love about this cummins is that it doe snot in any way get the engine oil temp anywhere near what any of my past dmax's used to get. Highest ive seen is 210* oil temp pulling 10k at 80mph. Dmax would be 230+

The Dmax sure like to push the EOT up, what keeps it down in the cummins Brian?

I had an offer of 16.5 for my LB7 yesterday...:D

I no longer own it now...

Id do it in a second, these trucks are getting almost impossibly to finance so if you can sell it they have to have cash. Which weeds outs 90% of buyers...

So i shouldnt keep both? haha

I know what you mean but I dont feel like mines going to depreciate much more at this point as new truck prices keep climbing

100k stock? I give it until 10k for you ;)

I would want to do head studs, tune, and delete at a minimum.

With 87K miles, built trans, 64mm turbo, immaculate, 550hp? I dont see those for sale often haha.

All that really doesn't mean anything for resale. granted there are some people out there who like seeing mods, but most buyers pay the premium for a stock truck, not a modded one.

I constantly am looking at my local craigslist for duramax trucks (been searching for a dump) and there are not many with a 20k+ price, and the ones that are, sit for a long time.

though if I understand your original post, he wants to give you 20k for your truck, and then you buy out his brand new dodge for 40k more? so you are essentially giving up 60k for the dodge? If this is true, this might not be as good of a deal as you are thinking, because dodge has some huge rebates on new trucks right now. some of the trucks have close to 10k rebate on them.

I'm a bit confused on the whole dodge trade and 40k. If its a 20k cash offer for your truck, that's a good deal. if he is claiming his dodge is worth 60k, and is "giving" you 20k for your truck by taking it and you pay 40k for his dodge, that's not as good of a deal.

No I meant I pay 20K on top of my truck. Not a bad deal really. But still reluctant.

ok. how good of a deal that really is would depend on how optioned out the truck is, and how big of a rebate he got. when he bought it new.- my local dodge dealer has some trucks with close to 10k rebates.

I just priced an SLT online, and its right at 49k for a bare bones 4x4. So, if he got a huge rebate when he bought it, then if he thinks he is getting 40k (your truck at 20k plus 20k "cash") then he is essentially getting all of his money back (in his mind).

IMO, for you this is a good deal. his valuation of 20k for your truck is very high- probably higher than you could sell it for, and most definitely higher than you would get if you walked into a dealer to trade it in on a new dodge.
