does anyone know if it’s possible to swap an lb7 for an lly? i have an lb7 right now (2003) and the engine is very worn. i thought about fixing it but I might just be putting lip stick on a pig if I put injectors in it. if it’s possible to swap, what are the pros and cons? does the turbo get swapped as well? any and all info appreciated.

My son and I did it in an 03 quite a while back. I had a thread on diesel place. It was pretty straight forward IIRC. You might see if the thread is still there.
did u swap the turbo as well? like did u put the lly turbo on or did u leave the lb7 turbo on there?
The swap is pretty straight forward. As some mentioned above there are many threads in this forum walking your thru it step by step. There are LOTS of options. But the simplest is to just swap an entire lly engine, turbo to pan with ecm and harness over. Once that is done all you’ll need is a vats relearn/disable and a fuel level recal.
Why not just refresh your engine and go to SAC style injectors? I’ve owned two LBZs and an 02 LB7, and the 7 was by far my favorite of them all. Id almost trade someone straight up for another clean 02. If it were me, id pull yours and put lbz rods, cut stock pistons, and a set of SAC injectors and save yourself a bit of hassle and have a very stout engine.
