started swapping out my blown 03 lb7 today, about a month ago i melted/ cracked the #8 piston and i had a failing headgasket i believe.
i bought a complete wrecked 07 LBZ with 140km. ive got a couple questions, can i use the lb7 rad, intercooler and trans cooler? i know the rad hose size is different, not too worried about that, and the boost tubes are different, plan on deleting the EGR and making a new passenger side boost tube, and i dont see why my 5 speed trans cooler wont work.

ive searched through a few threads but does some one have a complete list of everything i need from the downer truck?

guage cluster,
tap shifter,
accelerator peddel
ecm,tcm
allison wiring harness,
all the engine wiring.
what else am i missing?

I was curious about doing an LBZ swap too but from what I've been able to find so far is that it would be pretty much a complete redo of the entire electrical system. Not bad to do LLY swap though. Where abouts are you located?

With 03 up, you can put a lbz in fairly easily. You can use your lb7 radiator hose. I did it on a truck. It went pretty easy. I used the lb7 intercooler and everything. I mated it to the lbz intake. I used a 90 degree steel elbow with the blue intercooler hose off the lb7 and tied it into the the blck lbz silicone hose then to the black plastic lbz connector. We had everything done and on the road in 2 days

Use the LBZ Black plastic CAC piece on the engine side with the factory silicone boot. Cut a piece of tube 4.5" and use a factory LB7 45deg silicone boot. It's a nice fit with factory look. The LBZ rad hose will fit the water pump but it's not fun. Search this site, I've got a thread with everything you will need.

Somebody lied to ya! It's re pinning a few wires and adding a couple.. Less then 45min of wiring.

Huh! Well that's good news! Lol! I really like the idea of an LBZ swap instead of the lly. So you've actually done this swap I take it? I was under the impression that the problem came when you tried to make the lb7 ECM play nice with the LBZ FICM etc.

Can you point me in the right direction as to info on doing the wiring changes? That would be awesome!

When it's all done, you will no longer have an LB7 ECM.

I know this thread is old, but I was wondering did you use the 5 speed trans or 6 speed trans, if not! Can you use the 6 speed trans? And again what all is needed from a donor to install a LBZ in place of a LB7?
