Have a 2002 Silverado with LB7
A year ago I had the injectors done for a second time, and the fuel rails replaced. It ran so well I decided to fix it and keep it.....New seats, 6" lift, wheels n tires, lights,
The head gasket just went and the mechanic is suggesting replacing the motor.

I really don't want another LB7 due to it's inherent problems and would rather go with the LBZ

I found a LBZ with turbo and wiring harness w/ 112k miles

BT Diesel Works retrofits a harness for the swap for $ 725

Any Suggestions or tips? Thanks

I know it is harder to swap 2003-2006 motors into the 2001-2002 than the 2003+ (which is basically plug and play). BT Diesel Works makes good kits from what I hear, so if they have a harness, that should be about all you need.

You planning on using the LBZ motor with the stock 5 speed transmission? The LBZ makes more torque than the LB7, so it might be good to have a TransGo kit put in the transmission, or consider putting the 6-speed transmission in with the motor. Though I am not sure how well the 6-speed plays with the 2001-2002 wiring.
