I have a 2003 duramax and wanted to try some different tcm tunes after building my trans with the Limitless diesel kit and a suncoast 1057 coverter because I couldn't get the 3-4 shift to clear up from double shifting.
Everything else shifts pretty good, I occasionally have a semi harsh 3-2 downshift but other than that I have put 5000 trouble free miles on it. My brother has an 04 lb7 so I decided to swap our tcms to see what kind of difference it would make. I noticed right away that it was shifting much crisper than before, and the double shift was almost completely gone. I was happy with it until my brother called me and said his transmission was now downshifting hard in almost every gear.
I swapped the tcms back and his is still downshifting hard with his original tcm in place.
Is there something I'm missing? Can you not just swap tcms without issues? Does the trans have to relearn after putting a new/different tcm in?
