Checked block grounds and they look good. I think this truck started smoking over the past week or two. Here is what it has.
Triple dog power pup
Shift kit
Exhaust
Intake
Alex 175000 miles when injectors were done by dealer
Fass fuel pump
Truck has 220k +miles maybe

I don't know where to start diagnosing the issue. I do not have much experience with the truck. Suggestions on testing, literature, specialty tools, links, even proper beer to drink while scratching head and staring at it would be appreciated. Any help.

Get a scanner and check balance rates on injectors. Thats the first place to start. One down fall to the lb7 is injectors life is hit and miss.

DO you have a check engine light? open the oil fill cap and smell for diesel.
looks like you have 50k+ on your injectors, you could have some bad ones

Making calls to try to roundup a scanner. Oil was scheduled to get changed today so I told him to sniff it and lookup the paper towel trick. I think the only codes it has been giving was a glowplug code. Not sure if there were any others or a check engine light. Will try to update as soon as I can. Thanks for the input so far!

That would be awesome! Hopefully I will find out tonight if my source can get his hands on something. I hate for you to have to make the journey... Of course we would reimburse you for what it's worth. It's just a pretty fair haul.

I know I would be... we got to see a glimpse of his work. I think a friend of a friend that works for a dealer is brining his home tonight.

Cylinder 1 and two were almost a two. Cylinder 4 was the highest at 2.5 to three i think. When rail pressure was commanded to 160 it could only make 117 at idle and fell off at the touch of a pedal. Truck has 215,000 miles when I looked at it tonight. He is pretty sure it was 175,000 when they were warranty. Paper towel trick revealed nothing, and oil smelled like regular used oil.

CP3 is bad or injectors are returning too much fuel would be my guesses, but thats all they are....guesses.

I would pull the programmer off just for the heck of it (you never know) so it is smoking out the exhaust? fuel smell I'm guessing? is it knocking at all? I would log and see how the rail is holding up, or think it might be a suck injector if it is knocking

Yes it was making a haze around the truck when it was sitting in parking lot. Smell reminds me of my 1978 1750 Loadstar with a natural aspirated dv550. It was better tonight (cloud wise) but I could still smell it. Don't think it's knocking.

Side note: About week ago it threw a code for fuel pressure regulator.

My girlfriends fpr on her lb7 is also pretty smoked(lopes alot). Hazes at idle a little bit. Balance rates aren't bad(all under 3.0+/-). But I don't really think the balance rates being good will still make an injector good. Believe a couple of them are returning to much fuel. I'll be doing her fpr tomorow anyhow so we will see! She has 120k on replaced injectors.

Regulator could be weak/bad, too. You need to have someone hook a scanner/Tech 2 up first before throwing parts at it. All we're doing is guessing without any hard data.
