LB7 shift range inhibited no code

hi guys i need help 2003 LB7 with built trans LLY(5k ago) and i got Reverse but when i put it on Drive after 2-3 second it goes to neutral and show shift range inhibited.....put on the lift wheel off the ground and fuel it before 3 second and do all gears but on the ground nothing except reverse...any thought ..change both filter changed oil cleaned valve body and bored E shift valve

forgot to tell ....brand new but it's no me that installed it...just got the truck from another shop

ok i used Suncoast-R 5k miles ago but don't know what the customer did with the truck he's 18 years old so may be he didnt tell me all ...loll thank you mike...some other test that 1 can do before pull off the trans

No you won't always get codes with an open circuit wire. One of my techs chased his tail on one of these for a couple of days.

If you have a Tech 2 you can do a clutch test to command each gear. In the case of my shot C3s the truck skipped a commanded gear to the next. Truck failed. Mike was kind enough to explain how to perform the test.

Clutch test does not work for C1 clutch. It is on from first to fourth.
