I did 2" to get the swap done, and will switch to the tapered lift as well. I'm going to put the 2002 HD bumper cover on, and then eventually get the HD grille to match. Not going to do the angled HD grille though.

With the GMC grille, you are able to get the 2" spacer for the front bumper / grille. I feel that the GMC front bumper has more options to blend between HD and non-HD looks

I had the local transmission shop hybrid the NV246 (AutoTrak) and the NV263XHD (Duramax) transfer cases together. Got it back Friday.

It is AWESOME. It works better than I could have dreamed. Absolutely no drag when turning or idling around in Auto 4x4, and instantly transfers power when I get on it. I will maybe hear the slightest chirp from the rear end when I gun it, then it sends power forward and hooks. Usually it is aggressive/quick enough that I don't even notice the rear end get loose. I will play in the snow next time it snows here, but on dry and wet pavement, it is amazing!

As for what was done, they put the input shaft from the 263XHD in, along with the wider chain and sprockets. Used the 246 case and output shaft, and some machining to make the larger chain/sprockets fit correctly. New Spicer yolk to fit the 246 output shaft to the 1410 U-joint on the driveshaft. And the usual pump rub kit, new bearings/seals, etc. Cost me $1,450 installed.

Though when work on a bread n butter equipment you're little more motivated to get it done :rofl: plus no kids/wife/GF for distractions helps

Honestly I'd like to do another LBZ/LMM/ 4L80 version...

Really like 305/70/17(34*12) stance with 2-3? Turns on the tbars

Probably end up right now putting a 408 LS1 in replace of the worn out lq4 that's in it

So I found you can fit the Duramax/Allison without a body lift, but only just. You would end up needing custom intercooler piping and have to do something with the fan shroud. But other than that, it works.

I opted for the body lift to keep the engine plumbing stock, though I plan to switch to the tapered lift (front 2", back 0") down the road.

Eric did his 1st build without a body lift at 1st, but ended up lifting it to get the ac lines to clear the hood. He figured he could have swapped to an 03+ denso compressor from the delphi and made it fit, but he decided the body lift just made it simpler. I know I did mine with no bodly lift, and the only hosr I had to change was to cut some off the upper radiator hose, but it's TIGHT!
