So started on my first set of LB7 injectors last nigth for a guy. any tips on getting them out with out dislodging the cups? I did make the tool to pull the cups if i see that they come loose. have the merchant deluxe kit with injectors. really not that bad to get too just alot of stuff and this one has the egr too which will not be going back on. so any tips to insure that i do not end up with a fuel leak and I will be rigging up the banjo fitting to pull a vacuum on the return line to make sure but also read one guy on here did that and still ended up with a fuel leak. thanks.

I do alot of twisting side to side with a little pressure pulling up/prying up under the hold down and usually come fairly easy. Now for the leaks ive yet to have one with new banjo seals but only done 6 sets of lb7 injectors

Sometimes they pull the cups with them, sometimes they don't. I've pulled injectors with the proper puller tool, and with a crow's foot. Both ways had some cups come out, and some stay. FWIW, more cups came out with the proper puller. But you have to pull the pushrods to use the crow's foot, so...

Be sure you've drained your coolant, and don't be afraid of the cups coming out. Just clean them well and reseal them with the correct locktite.

If you follow the GM torque spec on your return lines, and use new metal crush gaskets, you won't get a leak. But for real: follow the torque spec (on everything)! If you don't have a in-lb torque wrench, now is the time to get one.

I believe the MA kit i bought has the tool in it and yeah i drain 2.5 gallons of coolant last night i can drain the rest. and yep got a IN.lb t wrench.

I torque all my injectors first and i also torque the injectors to 45lbs instead of 37.. a well known engine builder told me to torque them more but thats up to you..

Yeah teh 6.0 powerstrokes have an issue where they need to be torqued down a little more then spec because the copper washer has been known to burn out and leak. must be the same reason needs a little extra crush on the copper.

He just said he never had any problems with cups lifting when going a little tighter.. torqued the last set and mine to that

You may wanna do yourself a favor and drain the coolant from the block. If a cup comes loose it will fill that cylinder!

I use a big pair of pliers, and twist them while gently pulling up and have yet to have a cup budge. Just make sure you twist them side to side and break teh o-ring loose before you pull up any at all.

I made it a habit to pull all the cups, clean them and reinstall. Yes it takes more time but the piece of mind is well worth it.

X2 that is what i do, might as well pull them all and reseal while your in there. its easier than getting it all put back together and then finding out one lifted a bit but didnt come out and then pulling it back apart.
