Anyone done anything like this in a ad style truck?
So far I have the 2002 donor truck 4x4 longbox extended cab and a 49 chevy 1 ton longbox.
My main question is will the duramax/Allison fit into the 49 chassis or am I better off trying to put the cab and box on the much newer donor frame,my concern here is the stance of the truck as the 2002 seems to be approx 4" wider.
I would prefer to swap the cab and keep the 4x4 but don't want it to look like a frankin truck when I'm done.if the duramax would drop into the 49 frame this would keep things simpler I think.
So to those who have already traveled these roads what do you think is the best way to go?
Right now Im thinking
Stand alone harness,2 wd tail shaft and drop it in the 49 frame.
