LB7 Did I Goof Up?

I bought a 2001 2wd extended cab about a year ago. It has 156K miles on it. Ran ok, but allison shifted like crap. The longer i had it, the worse it started to idle. Long story short, I bought a new bosch FPR and replaced it. While I was at it, I put a new Wix fuel filter on it. Ok, I'm halfway mechanical but replacing the FPR absolutely stunk! You must need small hands or at least 3 hands! Vehicle started up and sounded fine but developed a very noticeable lope. No codes yet! Funny part, it shifts so much smoother! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

To diagnose the FPR, you need a scan tool to log the truck. The FPR might have been bad, or the real problem might have been injectors. Or both.

An additional concern is if you got a LBZ regulator or a LB7 regulator. The LBZ regulator flows more fuel, and so many people switch to that, but it requires tuning changes to work right on the LB7. Do you know which one you installed? If you installed the LBZ regulator, it would do what you describe, but would probably also throw a check engine light after driving a while.

You might need to get it diagnosed further, but if the injectors are original, I'm guessing they are about done, and could be the cause of your issues.

Can the fpr be checked off of the cp3? The fpr looked identical to the one I replaced for an lb7.
