So I'm about ready to key my crank for an LB7 build, I don't want to spend the $5000 for a billet crank. I have a low mileage under 100000mi crank, should I use it or buy a brand new GM crank for $900. Is a seasoned crank provend and a better choice than a new crank or ?? I'm leaning towards the new GM crank but a liitle unsure. Last thing I want to do is spend $2000 on block only to have a crank break for no real reason. Any input? If a billet crank was 2500 than maybe, but 5+ well......
Pile of parts in my shop currently are,
Carrillo's
Billet main caps
Socal Girdle
PPE/Mahle .020 new pistons with reliefs
Head studs, Main studs
Socal springs
Socal pushrods
PPE Manifolds
New Exergy 60 overs
And all Bearings, studs, etc for the usual build.
Dual pumps, stock LB7 with LBZ 2nd pump
Using my old turbo for now S471.
I probably would only switch to an S475 someday so is a cam going to make much diff or not. Being built for driving and playing, nothing serious.
