Last night I found that my truck was leaking diesel. when I went to look, I found that my fuel filter head came loose I had installed a cat filter adapter so I have a spacer between the engine and filter head. I also have the egr vacuum system. if you have this you know it is hard to get to the two 13 mil bolts behind the egr stuff. well I had to and last night I just took my egr vacuum system off because m going to be removing it later anyways (months). now when I try to start my truck it will get one good pop then just crank. I will prime it again then the same result a good pop then just crank. it doesn’t loose prime I just open the bleeder screw and pump a few time fuel is coming out the whole time. My question is do I have to put the egr vacuum system back on so my truck will run?

The Parts that i removed was the top half of the attached picture (PN 51,134,135,527,618,) basically everything that was attached to bracket 135 every thing that is above the fuel filter head. this video attached is what i removed https://youtu.be/U2D1s4xvOBw?t=30s.

Unless you have EFI live to turn the EGR system off don't remove anything. Put it all back on

The truck should run without the system hooked up. You will need to turn off reporting in tune and change some temp parameters. You will need to block riser on passenger side up pipe and block off egr valve.

Unfortunately no it won't, You can leave all of the electrical stuff connected and just disconnect the Vacuum it will start. You will a light after a trip or two.

I am in Wis. I will hook up all the electrical again to see if i can 'trick it'. I also am getting cylinder codes (0205,0207,2146(I didn't have a code reader before))so I'm going to check all my connections am see if my FICM is still connected.

911 Is over I have figured out what it was while I was pissed I was an idiot and unplugged the harness for the FICM on Piston 7 Which gave me a No Run. I was reading online just to see if I could find what all could be going on. I came across an article on duramaxhub.com that says.

“Injector Harness Chafing
It is extremely common for the injector wiring harness to chafe over time. This can cause a number of issues if the wires become exposed, including a no-start or rough running, lack of power situation. The associated trouble codes will usually reveal which injector(s) are affected and will relate to an "open circuit" condition. Example: "Injector circuit open, cylinder 7". To relieve this problem, the wiring harness (or affected portion of the harness) will need to be replaced/repaired. Often, you can verify the problem by wiggling the wires around the injector. If the problem goes away (even momentarily), you've identified the affected zone.

The no-start is what got me to look at that everything I have read about injector was that it would be a rough run never a no start. So moral of this one don’t unplug stuff at night when you are pissed and can’t see what everything is.

Also, You CAN run without the EGR vacuum system on the LB7 just has some codes but does run.

Thank You for all the help with a stupid mistake
