If the pump wasn't changed when the rest of the parts were replaced on the front of the motor, it might be worth looking at installing a new oil pump and seal rings to the pan and pickup tube. If there was a lot of damage to the front of the motor (sounds like there was), the pump could have been damaged as well.

I have had to get it out of the shop to get some other work complete. I'll be back on this in a few weeks. I'll dig in to the oil pans(s) and see what's going on. Sounds difficult to remove the upper pan as the transmission has to come out. I'll pull the lower and check out the pick up tube.

I read through the other thread about loosing prime on the oil pump. I do think I have that issue, but certainly have an issue.

I don't think it's too big of stretch to think that the turbo not providing boost could also be the oil pressure. If the oil isn't getting up there, the turbo probably wouldn't spin with no oil going to it.

I have been reading up on oil pump replacement. I have to think that with all the damage on the front of the engine that yes, the oil pump is certainly suspect.

It appears to be a press on gear. I'm wondering if that gear is spinning in the shaft that drives the oil pump. If so, I think I might pull the front cover and weld that gear on and put things back together. That would probably take me 4-5 hours and if it works, would save all the work of pulling the trans, oil pans, front suspension, etc.

Then I can figure out the non boost issue.

My opinion would be to bite the bullet and just change the pump and all the relates seals for the pickup tube and oil pump. I might even go ahead and do a new pickup tube while I was there just for peace of mind.

With the reports I've seen of the cracked oil pickup tubes, I'd be doing the whole 9 on yours. New pump, seals, and pickup tube.

Alright guys, I have everything back together...

New....

Oil pump
Pick up tube
Turbo (upgraded)

Still looses oil pressure when warm. Still no boost.

I will install a manual pressure gauge, but don't have high hopes there either.

Next I'll pull the engine and start digging in😫

Looks like I have another winter project on my hands!
