Hey new guy to the diesel world so sorry if i ask dumb questions or anything. I bought a 06 3/4 ton 4dr from a friend. The truck is stock execpt for an edge programmer. I bought this for towing my drag car but wouldnt mind doing small mods to help with mileage and such. Im open to all opinions. Thanks

Welcome to DD :hello:

Not sure what your drag car is,we like pics of fast stuff:thumb:.Im all for doing mods but you will find the more you do to the truck the more your going to love it,that torque bug will bite you and hard.Next thing you know your trying to figure out how you can pull the truck with the drag car .mid to high 12s are very possible with a trans lift pump exhaust a couple better air options and efi live anything past that get a new tow rig and build this truck. Just my oppinion, the others i believe we just kidding you about not doing mods to the truck.

Guys
the guy has a drag car! DING DING DING. Bells goin off to nobody else? Tow rig or not this man likes "go fast".

With that in mind, get as close to needing an engine build as possible, mod your stock turbo a little, to keep it sane, as its designation in your life is to tow, 15% over injectors, built trans(no kit, find a custom builder) efi live v2 (more fun that way, since you are in the industry of race, you, or a close buddy may know how to tinker with efi live already) Efi live v2 can run alot of different platforms, anything ls for starters, duramax honda subaru etc. If you dont want to tinker, you can buy a pre done built trans tow tune(s) You can quite easily get your truck up to 575hp for max effort. How much mula you wanna loosea? How reliable do you need it? Your steering system(linkage, pivots)will most likely need the usual upgrades. Im building what you "could" label as an ultimate stock/tow rig. Notice how i say stock and tow, now take special notice, 20g. Thats not what i paid for the truck. So read for some time to come. There is alot to take in. Remember, this actually is a science, when you break it down. So plan, every step of what you anticipate what you want, What it affects in the chain, and if you really want to go that route. IF YOU WANT TO MAKE THIS RIG A SOLID TOW RIG check out the oil cooling thread, you shou!ld reallyreally read that.

Thanks guys and gals for the welcome. I guess the diesel thing just has me a bit siked out on what to do to it. Yeah I like speed but the car is not a driver anymore and I like nothing better than a little stop light action in town from time to time. Nothing better than a heavy old truck out running a mustang or camaro in town. lol I'll do my best to read up on this stuff you've mentioned. I'll try and figure out how to post pics asap. Thanks again
