So I used to race Motocross when I was younger. I was always a 2 stroke guy, raced thumpers in the end but still love 2strokes. Anyway I have owned several big bore 500’s Honda and Kawasaki and have wanted to do a Aluminum frame 500 for awhile now. I stumbled across this instagram KX500AF build and my jaw hit the floor. Enjoy:D

After having close to a dozen 2 strokes I never thought I'd ride a 4. I'm on my second one now but will always miss the power band of a 2 stroke. It's cool to see these big 2 strokes, I could only imagine the power :D

That's a pretty build for sure. Hopefully it actually gets ridden some, but I see a lot of builds like that end up as a display piece, not actually doing what they were supposedly built for.

The time in that pipe alone has me worried. You don't put that much time into a pipe then risk bending it by riding hard.

I am a giant two stroke fan, so it is fun to drool over, regardless of if it gets ridden. I am on my 4th? two stroke now. Had a couple four strokes, and occasionally ride other people's 4 strokes, but just not the same fun as a two stroke in my mind. I can be just as fast on either bike, and in some ways it is easier to go fast on a 4, but it isn't the same. Two stroke is in my blood, I guess.

The builder claims it will get beat on, he’s a pretty fast moto guy. Dirt Bike is doing a full spread on it and have some pros lined up to ride it. Maybe Laracco will spin some laps on it:thumb:

This may bring back some memories for some, one of our customers restored this last year. CR250R Elsinore, I forget what year it is. I doubt this one leaves the garage anytime soon. How about that kick starter on the left side?

Sweet KX. (and CR)

WAAAYYYYY back in the day, we had a family cabin next door to Jeff Stanton. He was a factory Honda rider and could do amazing things on a CR 500.

At one point I had a 86 CR500, he would just shake his head a laugh, he said "you do realize there are only about a dozen people in this country that can come close to riding that thing at it's full potential? And YOU ain't one of them!"

"Yeah but I can ride wheelies for DAYS on this thing!"

Good times.

I ride a CRF250F now.

That pipe is incredible, but man, that gas tank is a beaut for sure.

It's neat to see someone take the time and do it on a KX frame. Most are almost always done on a CR frame.
