nope no smoke, starts to knock then I give it a little throttle and it goes away...

Check you rail pressure des vs act. If not does it knock on decel?

The fuel pressure issues do sound like knocking .

I would doubt it is a rod issue .

Regulator maybe .....

i thought for the longest time i had a injector or fuel issue..knocked when cold, no smoke....it was an exhaust leak....happened again this year when my up pipe bellows cracked

Check your pilot injection ECT timing table. Mine had a block of values that add like 14* of timing when it was cold. Knocked like a SOB when cold.

Mine knocks pretty good too and I just noticed today when changing the fuel filter, I have an exhaust leak somewhere on the passangers side. I would guess it's the bellow thats cracked... The whole back pass corner of the block is black, even the fuel filter was caked with soot. My truck also has wush wush sound when cruising maybe related to the leak its only noticeable when warm

Ya my idle PSI is 10,000 it is a tuning issue no big deal.

fuel knock ... exactly what it sounded like .... good deal you got it squared away . :thumb:

Mine knocks and when it does it loses 2-4k on rail pressure on my guage. sounds like timing rattle. I guess it's commanded though b/c it's not showing up in the logs apparently. Mostly at mid throttle starts, sounds awful.
