2005 ccsb lly. Sounds like something hitting the body? Idk how to explain it. Could it be a body mount? If so what do i do about it. Thanks

I've run into two things that cause this. One was worn out brake caliper slides and bolts, the other was bad cab mounts. If it's the sound I'm thinking of I'd go with the brake parts. I had a loose shock (missing the upper rubber bushings) do this once too but that one isn't very common I don't believe.

There is a large assortment of bushings in the suspension and diff mounts that I have been told can cause it too. Things to check I suppose.

It kinda sounds like its coming from the firewallish area. Is it easy to replace the body mount bushing? Ill check the others that you listed as well. Just the body mount bushing sounds like the biggest pain in the rear. I have bilstine 5100 series shocks to go on it. And also could a bad cv axle cause it? I have grease coming out of the boot on that side but didnt think it would cause a problem with it?

How do o check this?

Easiest way I can think of is crawl under the dash and grab it and shake. It connects to the bottom of the steering column and sticks through the firewall

I had a knock like that, lower shock bushing was bad.

Just look around and shake things
