Use a trailer breakaway assy(can he had at any trailer supply house or even wally world) and use one side of the break away switch as a ground to the frame, then take the other lead that comes out of the break away switch and run it to the positive side of the main injection fuse which is located in the under hood fuse box.

Just a piece of advise if using a trailer breakaway, Always carry an extra pin. It hasn't happened to me but I've heard that some spectators think it's cute to removed these for you while your truck is setting in the pits. Which would really suck if you didn't have an extra.

That will just pop the fuse, shutting down the truck correct? I never have been good with wiring. :rofl:

Im Not worried so much about the spectators. Im worried about my buddy's at work finding it :mad:. We are always screwing with each others trucks (radio's, keys, relocate), right before we hit the clock to go home. They owe me a good one. I added about 1/4lb. of stick-on wheel weights to one of their rims. It took him a while to figure it out.

Can do the same thing as the break away switch with one of the female extension chord ends that comes apart...

run wiring from one leg of the fuse to one of the prongs (inside of plug) of the extension chord plug, run a wire from the other extension chord prong (on the inside of the plug) back to the other leg of the fuse. The circuit is complete when you have a male plug plugged into the female plug. The male end will simply have a loop (one's I've seen just use a ziptie) out the back of it for the sled to hook their clip to. When/if it gets pulled, the truck shuts down.

Those plugs aren't very expensive at all.



I did a real quick flebay search mostly for pictures to show what I'm talking about... The female end was $1.79. The lot of (5) males was like $10 IIRC.

Correct. It's the easy and very effective way of wiring it. Just make sure you have some extra fuses incase the kill switch is accidently pulled that way you quickly get back up and running.

Due to a difference in rules across the board I opted to go with Engineered Diesels butterfly shutoff. Its pricey, but its also safety, where cost shouldnt matter. expect to have over $400 tied up when its all said and done. I wont say the price of the actual shutoff though. call chris or greg.

I havent decided where/how I will attach it out back but it will use PTO cable or similar(cable inside a cable) and terminate in a loop. Attached to that loop will be a zip tie.

If you go this route you must use a zip tie. When/if you come unhooked from the sled and the switch gets pulled the zip tie allows you to break away from the sled. Without it, the sled will rip your entire rigging system apart and everything else in its path.

I heard about one guy who ended up with a broken coolant overflow tank, an airbox ripped back against the cab and all kinds of other goodies.

I didnt see pics but heres what happens. That cable will only give the amount it takes to release the shutoff. Past that its still a really strong cable and can crinkle the intake tract which will take everything else in its path. there is a reason why every (smart) puller runs a zip tie

I was thinking of running an in-cab toggle between the breakaway switch and the fuse block up front. It's not an air shut off, but it's better then nothing.
