Early friday night I started the truck to leave work
and to my surprise the key stayed in the run posistion just a little past the actually almost to the start posistion

Because of the key posistion my heater and windshield wipers didnt work
AWSOME! Drive back to the campsite to meet the wife that I hadnt seen in a few weeks and hit a rainstorm AWSOME! with no wipers or heat then left the truck running for fear of it not starting at 4:30am when i needed to travel back to work.....lucky for me i had no tools to pull apart the steering colum AWSOME!

Now for the best part.....My truck is at Teds MPL getting fixed and im driving a FORD:eek:

What a nice weekend:D

Put truck in Low 1
tilt steering down
snap off dash bezel
pull straight out on tilt button and it comes off
unsnap top steering cover

Check alignment on the switch vs. the key cylinder.

A FORD hmmm might have to ban you for a few days now lol:joker:

I thought the same thing when he pulled away in it....

So last night Simon shows up, we got the truck shut down, and I disconnected the batteries. Closed the hood and went home. Anyway, today I get here and realized all he left me to get the doors unlocked was a key fob:rofl: Luckily that driver side inner fender liner is long gone, so here I am, ass backwards, leaning over his tire trying to fish my hand up and hook up a damn battery. Thank god he wasn't around to get any pictures of that!!

Long story short, the retainer for the tumbler had come apart and jammed in the ignition housing. Luckily the key still rotated to crank so it all came apart quite easily. Put a cylinder in from a donor truck, and all is well.

I won't tell him how long to took to actually fix....

but he owes me a bottle of rum for my Sunday overtime......:D

Here's a pic of the messed up cylinder...sorry it's so blurry.
