You zero the gauge by pressing the stem in the gauge port. If you use the rubber plug in the back of the gauge and it may leak out some fluid out. My Kennedy gauge that I’ve had for 14 years never zeroes out and has always read a little off.
As for the pictures I’m assuming one picture is the pressure with the pumps on and the other is the picture with the pumps off? When you zero the gauge does the needle actually go to zero?

Got lucky, got off early. I pushed in the pintle a few hundred times. It released the vacuum but stopped at a little over 1.5 HG. I layed face down and pulled plug to balance atmospheric pressure between outside and inside of guage. I’m not sure how to zero guage.

You might have a bad gauge. For me pushing in and holding for a few seconds has always done it. Tilt the gauge to the right and see if it slowly moves back to zero.

Mine never zeroed. I brought it up to Kennedy and he didn’t seem concerned about it and said that it would not affect the gauge any. I always figured it was throwing the readings off a little bit then, but wasn’t able to confirm that until I permanently mounted a gauge inside the truck.

So my guess is you’re reading one and a half inches high on vacuum and the same amount low on pressure. Just like mine does. I would also say that your pressures/vacuum are normal.

That’s the way I took it also. I take it your new gauges proved what you say about the add and subtract method to a more accurate reading.

I’m on the back side of the mega filter install now. When I get that done and test pressures I’ll leave the guage loaded on the psi side for while just for S—t s and giggles to see if it changes anything at zero.

Ya as far as pressure goes it doesn’t do vacuum though, so I can’t confirm my theory 100%. Make sure you bleed everything like Kennedy says. I didnt do it like I should have and didn’t know my pump was cavitating until I got the in cab gauge. It didn’t hurt the pumps even after 12years+ and 100k+. I run the old school nicktane filter though which doesn’t bleed worth a shit though.

Mega filter is in. My psi came up some even on my janky guage. I picked up a maf code, that sucks

Not good. Hey mike, what thread would give me some good reading or suggestions for minor transmission upgrades to assist my stock transmission for towing my fifth wheel camper.
