Help: Keep miles off my truck or run it?

Guys,

My 07 2wd duramax just hit 89k miles. Its paid for, runs an 80hp tune, and is in great condition. I just dont know if it makes sense to drive it as a daily driver, or buy a car to keep the hard tedious miles off my truck. Any input? I might put 10k miles on it a year now..

Run it till it dies then build it bigger and badder:thumb: Wifes 07 has 107,000 and we just got back from a 1,200 mile trip with no fears of it dying. The wife called and asked if it was safe to drive her truck cuz it was gonna hit 100,000 miles:rofl: Guess she thought it was gonna die then:roflmao:

Thanks guys, I would rather just run it and build the trans. Building the tranny would be a good idea for the life of the truck right? Better power transfer?

Im personally looking for a new dd right now so i can build the dmax a little more. Not smart to hotrod the dd too much lol

I really dont want to build it up, the trans, but hp wise the truck is strong running as it sits. I cant see going past 500hp otherwise ya I would just get a DD.

FWIW, I stopped commuting in the truck when it cost $25 a day to go to work. I now drive a Saturn when I am not riding one of my motorcycles :thumb:

Yep, I drive a 08 toyota yaris with 63,000 miles on it and i bought it brand new. My truck is a 2002 with 49,250 miles and is blown up It sucks but the toyota is dependable Its bad when people don't even relize that i own a truck

My 02 is a 700 hp dd. But I don't abuse it, but it is full built.the only time I run it hard is if someone wants an ass kickin lol

I DD my colorado, cheaper on everything than my truck. If I kept my LBZ, this time last year I had 67k and I sold it with 69,6xx

I bought an lb7 to releive mileage on my LMM, i use the shit out of it and still raced it, great truck time to retire it from work....that lb7 has been awesome so far, killer fuel mileage....

AHHH!!!! he's good on an 80hp tune! if you truly can leave it at that power level than i'd say your fine on your tranny, you will end up having to built its slightly in the future however, but i would just wait till you limp it a few times and can notice it slipping before you do. My wife and I take our diesel truck on any and all trips over our sedan. It's a diesel and can handle high mileage. Just delete all emissions equipment if at all possible where you live and your truck will be relatively trouble free for at least another 80k miles or more:thumb:!

hell i put twins on at 160k and its my dd i tow a landscape trailer daily stop and go then jump in it on the weekend and dont bat an eye to go on any trip even know i still have the stock trans in it and i drive like an ass too lol she is showing signs of slippage limped twice but easy on the pedal and just keep going

Thanks for the input guys! Lb7 to relieve an lmm isnt a bad idea haha. Im building my trans regardless what tune I run, but 80hp tune on the stock trans (with a trans go jr) hasnt caused any issues. Yes that is my truck in the picture.
