what im planning is hiding the board but taking the led read out off the board and mounting it out where i can see it. buy keeping the pc board i can also hook up a led to it for the th/od/glow plugs/cruise.

Or just keep the oem cluster completely hid(but wired up) and use your quadzilla monitor to see what gear you are in like you originally wanted. You don't need to see the DIC it just needs to be there for the tap shift to work. Simple fix but should work without any rewiring.

the TCM doesnt NEED THE CLUSTER to make the tap-shift work. I said that already...The tap-shift will work just fine...except you wont be able to see what gear you have selected. Notice I said SELECTED gear. Not what gear you are currently in.

And for the third (fourth?) time, the quadzilla shows CURRENT GEAR not [tap-shift] SELECTED GEAR.

Im sorry, im not trying to be an ass, but its just frustrating trying to help nekkedhillbilly out when there is misinformation and peoples own ideas of what will "probably" work, (not what will actually work) being blasted at him right and left..

Correct. This will work perfectly.

Just be sure to mount the vacuum flourescent display from the cluster securely and isolate it from vibration/dust/moisture.

ben you think if i trim out a spot above the gauges in the center and mount it behind the overlay all sealed up under some lexan is should be fine i dont think it would have any more vibration than it does oem like that and be similarly set up.

Seems like a lot of work for something that isn't completely necessary. Why couldn't you just use the Quadzilla display and some common sense to use the tapshift without DIC? If you have it in drive and put it down into manual mode, the selected gear is the current gear. It shouldn't be that difficult to figure out what gear you are putting it into. Am I missing something?

Maybe I'm wrong, but my take on it is that the Quadzilla qill just show park, reverse, nuetral, and drive, and not M1, M2, and so on like the DIC does. I think that is what Ben means by the difference between selected gear and current gear. Just a thought.

It will show your current gear. If you are in 1st it will show 1, 2nd will show 2, etc. What it won't do is show which gear you have selected. So if you are in drive, and the transmission is in 3rd gear, the display will show 3. If you put it down in manual and hit the + button twice to select 5, the display will still only show 3 until the transmission shifts up into 5th.

that was my initial thought but it really isnt much more work im gonna have to use bcm for cruise tow haul and push button 4wd so its just laying a board behind the dash and running some ribbon cables to the readout.
