what all is involved in installing a jr kit.thinking of installing one in my 06 service body truck.as of now i just run an evolution on level 3 and tranny seems to handle it fine,however i dont do bosted launches or run the snot out of it,mainly for fuel mileage and extra towing power...

Drop and split the vavle Body drill a hole put some spring and valves in. Pretty simple with the directions
Thanks for the info and link, was planning the transgo when I do the next fluid change on the truck.
IMO, the two pains with dropping the VB with the trans in the truck are it's MESSY! Expect an ATF bath... and holding the VB in place while making sure you get the pin in the lever and getting bolts in to hold it up. Two people would make it MUCH easier, I think.
I know that no two trucks are the same. I put 15k on my o6 with the evo and never raced or did boosted launches and only towed my 202 crownline to the river and back which is only a few blocks and my C3's(frictions and steels) were toasted and my pressure plate had heat discoloration on the surface pretty bad. I feel that the factory tq converter is also one of the weak links. Just my experience with the evo, However saying I didnt race it means at the strip. I did do alot of high speed and heavy foot driving. You will have no problem installing the transgo jr. If you did have issues you are in the perfect place to tackle anything with tech help from this forum. Sorry for the short book
Jess, why don't you just ask us - you have both of our numbers and you know we'll answer any of your questions. You never called me back about the heads the other day.
Jess if you are going to just use your truck for towing, Mike L has some kits i think that are made just for towing and they arent very much (when compared to a SC III). just something to think about. a Jr doesnt help out that much can still kill a trans with it.

So, would the jr help me or be a waste of time, just use up the factory trans till its toast then upgrade. We're talking about the lbz in my sig, 146,000 miles 95% highway, 60%towing, 6gun.
The Jr. isn't a total waste of time if you plan to use your truck for towing or everyday driving on stock to 125hp over stock. It obviously won't hold what a built transmission will but it does help. What has had people saying it doesn't do much is the guys that install it then go do 4WD boosted launches and race on hotter tunes. So yes it will help and it's easy to install. The only time I would say it's a waste of time and money is if you plan to build the trans soon and/or run bigger power than what it's designed for - and that is mostly due to the cost of fluid and labor (if you aren't doing it yourself), because otherwise you can have SunCoast leave it out of you SC III or SC IV kit.
lotsofmiles - we just built the trans in an LMM that had under 12,000 miles on it, already had a transgo jr and had a Banks 6 gun. The clutches were in worse shape than I expected but he had never limped his trans.

hmmmmm, never limped mine, never raced, dynoed once, 2wd and no boosted launches, I have taught a ford or a ricer a lesson once in a while, more than regular on fluid & filter changes, and have deep pan, like I said truck is about 60 percent towing anything from 2000 - 10,000 ish lbs.

I would just do it on your next scheduled fluid change then.
It didn't need a rebuild at 12,000 miles - he ditched the banks and was getting our tuning. I don't think the stock trans with Transgo Jr would have liked the 520hp his truck put down or the 2WD 13.2s it ran the next weekend.
