It was a nice 75 today near LA. The next two days we're supposed to get high winds and fire danger.
Great. At least I'm in an area where my power doesn't get shut down by friggin Edison.

Probably bc the schools closed due to the cold. If we get a chance of flurries at the beach the market runs out of bread and water in hours. It ridiculous but the forecasters have issues predicting snow near the coast, they called for a light dusting once and we got 18”. Only job you can be wrong 60% of the time and still get a paycheck 100% of the time… Meteorologist…

Sounds like they got a couple of fires down there now. One in particular is proving to be really bad with the winds and threatening nearby towns/city. News saying it's growing fast

The Palisades fire is getting really bad.
They're saying the winds are going to get way worse tonight. The worst in 10 years.
I hope this doesn't turn into a Paradise fire.
A lot of expensive homes, heavy vegetation, hilly.

The good news is it looks like the winds are pushing the fire towards the ocean. So it would have limited fuel vs going inland where it would threaten much more people and homes. If it was moving towards San Fernando or Beverly Hills that would be very bad

gavin gruesome has finally started to invest in wildfire capabilities for calfire and the other fire depts. 80mph winds are crazy. We had some big brush fires in Manhattan in the fall. difficult terrain and a PITA. I feel like the wind has been blowing for the past 2 months, i have 3 trees to take down and everyday i have off it's blowing 40mph.

I'll believe when I see it. Several years ago he supposedly invested millions to purchase up air tankers and a slew of other fire fighting equipment. The explanation was it would allow us to deploy them before the fires get out of hand or grow large enough to threaten homes. How has that worked out? As far as I can tell notho has changed. We all thought the Paradise fire was a wake up call.....
