That very thing bit a good friend of mine in the ass recently with a newer Chrysler 300. He's not "car literate" , and bought the thing without even asking me to look at it. He brought it over and Roni and I were like, "Damn, you got ripped off".The problem with buying a rebuilt-from-salvage vehicle is that there are so many hack body shops out there these days that will piece one together with half-ass body work and questionable parts/skill to make it look decent enough that the average person doesn't even realize how bad it is. If I knew who did the rebuild and trusted their work, I wouldn't have a problem buying a salvage title vehicle.
I have a '17 accord hybrid as a beaterSo gas doesn't sux so much anymore
Yep.That'll buff right out.
Nate, is that twisted wreck what you started with? If so, that is amazing work!Yep.
You'll want to replace the SRS module. Then see what codes you get for crash sensors. You might be able to get codes for sensors with the activated SRS but I wouldn't rely solely on that. But you probably already know thatNate, is that twisted wreck what you started with? If so, that is amazing work!
Driver's airbags activated, so Ill check for any codes for the sensors/module. Double check all the suspension/front end parts installed correctly, same with all front plastics around the wheel wells and bumper/grille.
Im bringing the wife along, and she has an incredible eye for detail on vehicles, so she'll see anything I dont.
Take a close look at the frame in that area too. If they sprayed with a bunch of under coating it could be a red flag. You cant tell if was repaired correctly or not when they try and cover it up with under coating. Also when bolt holes have to get hogged out for it to get an alignment obviously something is wrong.Yeah, had to deal with the SRS module code on the Regal. There are no CEL or airbag lights active on the dash. so they may have reprogrammed the modules.
I just found a Canyon CC/SB Duramax on FB w/90,000 miles local. Sent that guy a message, too. Same basic option packages, too.
Yep that is what we started with. Basically only things that stayed original were the drive train, wiring and interior.Nate, is that twisted wreck what you started with? If so, that is amazing work!

Never heard of one of those making out in the wild. I would assume it would have everything maintenance and repair wise done to it while in GMs hands. Even if put through a tough life it would be cared for. No telling how the subsequent owners cared for itKept looking, found this one:

Been talking to the private seller. Turns out this truck may have been a GM test mule/preproduction truck for the 2.8 Duramax, and the RPO codes back that premise. I find that interesting.
