awwwwww, such a cute little machine

I dont think I could live somewhere that hot and not have a pool to jump in, regardless of maintenance.

You should have called me James. I would have brought my little 305.5 Cat hoe over. It is just light enough to be hauled on my car hauler. Has a zero swing counterweight and a little blade on the front. You guys could have sat back and drank beer instead...

Ummmmm ya I don't buy that... I live in dry heat myself and its annoying. NM isn't as hot as AZ but we get over 100 5-10 times a summer.

you dont have my big ass pool. thing would eat 3 chlorine tabs in 4 days in summer time and take about 1.5 weeks during winter. then add in muriatic acid when storms blow in and i have not chlorinated enough and she goes green in a day. i ran two floater things in my pool and the sun would still eat the chlorine faster than it could come out of the tabs. id use a gallon of acid ever two weeks just to keep the levels at an acceptable level. the theres the baking soda id have to throw in to drop PH levels after so much acid and new water went in. then add in water (pool was an additional 40 bucks a month in summer, 20 in winter). then add in broken parts (pump impeller, pump defuser, water seal, broken PCV pipes , one was my fault, rest werent). And we wont forget that it was also in major need of resurfacing, retiling, the cool decking was pulling away from the pool leaving large gaps, you couldnt fit a fence nicely around the pool without making it a major pain to get to the back yard, and most of all, i have more room for storing my toys now. im being conservative on my costs lol.

so you add all that up and within the year, ill have made my money back. My uncle and two guys i know well are pool guys and even my uncle giving me a good rate could only do it for 110 bucks a month.

all to only use 4 times a year.........why waste the money? by the time Erin and i had kids and they were old enough to play in the pool, ill be looking at a new house.

Not diggin at ya tony, just my veiw and justification to fill it in. i would much rather have the room to park both trailers behind the gate as well as my buggy and samurai. Specially now that erin wants her own samurai lol

Mines a diving pool too with a spa. Typically when it's using chemicals too quickly it's due to the chemicals not being balanced correctly. If your other chemicals are balanced wrong the chlorine is out of the pool VERY quickly.

I understand why you removed it since you don't intend on using it and it is expensive to maintain, especially getting caught up after many years of people not maintaining it. But, I still plan to give you a hard time about it and I'd be disappointed in you if you hadn't come to expect that by now.

We use our pool quite a bit during the summer, but to each their own. I guess if you lived on the right side of town you could come over and swim in my pool the couple times a year you would actually use it, but we all know you like living on the wrong side of town.

Trust me, i put plenty of time into getting chemical right, ordered the bad boy tester, spent hours rread on forums and the "go to guys". I got it down to a good system, just could not get it to go cheap. I put some sseriius effort into me tryin to keep it but in the end, ill come over, use the hell out of your pool and drive home without the expense lol

x2. I use the piss out of mine, then use the piss out of the jacuzzi when winter rolls around. It ain't 30,000 gallons, but it runs me about $50 a month to have in the summer, less in the winter if you don't add in gas to heat the hot tub.. Nothing better than a long day at work, come home and fall the f*** in with a beer. :D

The lake is nice, but it definitely cost more than $50 a month by the time I fill the boat and haul it out there, run around all day, drink beer, and all the other bs associated with going to the lake. Pool's a good alternative

Everyone around here has switched to saltwater pools, I like them. You can't tell they are salt and there is no chlorine smell or the normal burning of your eyes. From my understanding they are MUCH easier to maintain...

saltwater is definitely the way to go, it's cheaper and easier than bromine or chlorine

We bought a small above ground last fall.....think our plan is to run it as saltwater.

By "Our" I mean the wifes.....I want no part in it....I told her I'd set it up and thats it, so I give it a month and it will be a giant mosquito mating area.

Our pool is saltwater. I'm not sure it's saves us much.

It is much easier on the eyes, hair, and skin.

Lol I seen the news article about the giant mosquitos moving into FL and thought to myself, so the mosquitos from IL are moving south for the winter with the birds.
