I doubt it is rods or a piston. Your balance rates would be all over the place. Very rarely do all the rods bend the same amount also.
A compression test would be a good thing to check as well.
Also, what grade head gasket did you put in? Stock I believe is a "C".

Have you checked valve lash since you had the heads off?

i think the rod thing was a joke.

I dont remember what grade they were I would have to look at the invoice or call guy.

I adjusted all of the valves due to the thicker gaskets. I wonder if maybe I didnt tighten one down or something though.

WTF I just looked at one of my logs and this CP3 is acting weird.

At one point my actual pressure just randomly decides to climb to 18,500psi with 0% throttle and back down again steadily.

If you went thicker with gaskets, maybe you dropped the CR.?

Did you log rail pressure current? If actual is hunting around, and current is stable, you could have a bad FPR.

yes I did, i believe we discussed it either in this thread or a different one.

Ill log the current next time, I might have Ill go look, but ill make sure to next time.

okay i see i logged the commanded current, but i dont see a PID for the actual current. Am I missing it.

And when I do log it what am I looking for??

Yes, desired rail pressure current is the one I was thinking of. When the rail pressure goes up, you want to see what the current is doing. If it follows it, it could be a wiring issue. If not then it's likely a mechanical issue.

Okay guys I just figured it out tonite. I feel dumb.

I decided to follow a tip i got by altering to thuining to make up for the modded regulator.

So I connected to it with the DVT and tried lowring the pressure at idle and nothing changed, then i decided to see what it would do if i raised it a bit and holy crap, you can see 10' in in my shop anymore, and thats a big shop to fill up with smoke.

I then tried switching individual injectors on and off. I noticed ones i shut off number 2, it instantly cleaned up and there was no more popping.

So i referred back to the log I did just before this and saw that number two was +5.38 and number 3 was -4.64. That would probably do it.

So I guess ill take it to the dealer tomorrow and see if I can get another set of injectors. Will they do it?? My dealer is really good about everything to me and very honest.

okay guys i do have a concern though.

You mentioned bent rods and cracked pistons will show up in the balance rates.

Im assuming there is a chance that this may be the case then with my truck.

Im planning on taking it to the dealer tomorrow to have them check the return rates to really find out if it is an injector. And seeing if they will replace it. If they dont feel that they should for some reason I will either stick it with some other dealer or just do it myself.
