After gelling up and killing the batteries 2 years ago, I went with dual Odyssey batteries.

Spendy, around $500 i think, but absolutely no issues since then cranking over when it's -35 outside.

Mine are 875cca but are top and side post. Are yours labeled napa cuz I couldnt remember if east penn makes those?

Excide makes Napa batterys or atleast they used to as of a year ago_Our company goes thru them but our rigs are hard on batts.Mobile work station, strobe, truck box compartment lights, electric aircompressor, chargers and so on.

I run DEKAS now in everything. The new mexican built OPTIMAS have been failing left and right just after the 2 year warranty, and many say that is why they chenged from a 3 year and another 3 years of pro rated to just a 2 year thats it warranty. There have been toi many to count that just die and won't come back, and they are also having alot of them crack around the battery posts and leaking out in extreme heat. Just another victim of johnson controls price cutting. If you buy a wally world special or an advance or autozone battery, they are all the same thing. I buy mine from CARQUEST as they sell only DEKA batterys. they cost a little more, but I have had to many to count go for 6-7 years without incident.

I bought NAPA Legend 75 batteries this time around. I had their gel-cell batteries before (which they dont sell anymore) and I got almost 7 years out of them. Hope to get the same out of these.

Come to think of it, this is the first vehicle Ive ever owned long enough to have to put two sets of batteries in. Wow. I must love my Duramax.

Mine are side post only, Ive had them for almost three years. The manager at Napa told us that Deka was the manufacturer at that time, not sure about recently. They do have a Napa sticker on them.

Everstart in Everything. Cheapest and never failed. Walmart takes back anything if there is a problem. I have a old boat I let sit for about 7 years hooked up with a everstart. OPPS! Battery was dead, I mean Dead. Had to hook a dumb charger to it for a day before the smart charger would try to put a charge in it. It came back 100% and ran my winch for a whole day which draws more then the truck. Yes it still works. My father runs his Hydro boat moving trailer with one and all it does is run the trailer til dead and then recharge.

My 2 buddies and i had bought everstarts all about the same time and all 3 of our trucks sweat acid from the passenger side battery.Glad you had good luck because we sure didnt.I was told from the heat of the turbo gets the battery so hot it sweats never had this problem with the delco or interstates,Napa gold was a sweater also. But untill the d max i always bought everstarts.Worked good in everything else.

I still say Interstate nonetheless make sure that you buy batteries that have the desired CCA a diesel needs or you will have issues. Happened to a friend of mi e that bought those shitty batteries from auto zone or advanced. They gave him the wrong ones but replaced them.

i was told by a friend that the duralast golds were really good batterys... has anyone ever tryed them??

Just a rebadged JOHNSON CONTROLS, same battery as a WALLY WORLD special. i have a pair in my BURB that are 3 1/2 years old, and they are taking a crap now. Only put them in because my last set of batteries were duralast golds taht failed at 3 years and were replaced under warranty. going with a set of DEKAS from CARQUEST next go round.

I have interstate MTP78s in my truck and they leaked acid out of the top and have corroded both of my battery trays horribly. The batteries aren't even three years old and have been leaking for quite a while. I finally realized how bad it was and pulled the batteries and trays and am going to blast and paint the trays tomorrow. Does anyone have a recommendation for a battery that wont leak?

I ran optimas for a while but the yellows even crapped out. Now on a pair of dekas, I think they are like 850cca each, group 78 and a 34/78, they spin this thing over like it had a compression release.
