An update to this. My convo with the guy was on the 25th and he said the parts were there and were shipping that afternoon. I just now got an email stating that UPS picked them up yesterday and it has been shipped. Paypal was finally drawn from today.

I ordered a van thermostat housing from gmpartsdirect but it was back ordered. They emailed me within an hour of placing the order stating it was back ordered and asked if I wanted a refund or if I wanted to wait. I responded and asked for a refund. They emailed back and refunded my money within minutes. Only time I've ever dealt with them.

Seems I may have been the lucky one.

I worked at a GM dealership for 7 years so I've seen the issues the parts department can have. It's understandable. But when the guy states the parts are literally in front of him and they're shipping out on that day Thursday, only to see they shipped the Wednesday after... Little stuff like that gets to me more than parts running late due to forces out of control. In my profession over-promising and under-delivering causes massive headaches, and I've grown to absolutely loath people that do that.

Parts showed up today. Box was pretty smashed up. The original hardened cardboard box that the crank was in was broken in two. Crank was half way rolling around inside the main shipping box which was just packed with some paper. Sigh....

Ugh. Ive never used GMpartsdirect ever since it came to light that they jack up their shipping rates to offset their "lower prices". I hate scammers.
I instead tried to cultivate a good relationship with my local dealer parts dept. So far, so good.

This is what I found as well which is why I used the other guy's. Their price was slightly higher but shipping was free and fast.

Live and learn. I had also ordered a factory power steering cooler and pump boost valve which showed up correct and nice. However that weighed no more than five pounds. Easy to ship. Think I'll just stick to the dealer for the rest of my parts.
