My nsbu switch went out. Alligator performance wanted $89 for it but auto parts store wanted $37. So before I put this on I wanna make sure its the right switch for my trans. The part number is dr4033 its Autozone.

The NSBU switch you buy at an Allison dealer is better than aftermarket switches. They are sealed better and the electrical components are better. You can buy it from Allison for under 100.00. Chevy dealer sells the same exact switch for double the price.

The black switches will work, but proved to be VERY failure prone with the ALLISON. Buy it from ALLISON if you want it to last, if not run the cheapo and be prepared for it to quit. The 4L80E/4L60E use it just to tell the PCM what gear you have selected for the gauge cluster, the ALLISON relies on it to tell the TCM what gear you are in. So if it goes out in a non ALLISON application you lose your gear display, with an ALLISON you lose your gears.

You cannot go by color any more. my new NSBU switches are black. Never ever go by color as the color will change.

Well I'm gonna go a head and put this one on and when it goes I will give mike a buzz and buy one off him. But then again it is lifetime warranty I can get it replaced free.

Good information about the switches, how much does the lifetime warranty really cost when you have to pay the tow bill when your stranded and then replace the switch.

Life time warranty doesn't mean crap if you have to change the switch on the side of the road in 2 feet of snow 300 miles from home...on multiple occasions. I made the mistake of getting the lifetime warranty Autozone coil packs for my girlfriends jetta...in 2 years each cylinder has gone through 4 sets and is currently on the 5th set...they last for 4-6 months maxal and next thing you know, check engine light is flashing, and the car can barely pull itself out of a wet paper bag because the awesome lifetime warranty coil packs just dies again.

Yep, that lifetime warranty just normally means a feel good to make you buy there POS part. When it fails you can crawl underneath and unplug the trans plug and have limp mode which leaves you with reverse and 3rd so you can get home. Just some info in case it dies on you away from home.

Just to clarify, that's the main case plug on the rear passenger's side of the transmission, not the NSBU switch.

That's not so easy to do due to the close proximity of the exhaust shield next to the main harness connecter. You will need some long needle nose pliers and squeeze the connecter at 9:00 and 3:00 and jiggle it off.

Ah, I don't have one of those shields on mine. It wouldn't clear my cross member so it got left off. My exhaust sits about 2 inches furthur over to the frame than it does in a new body style truck, so it wasn't needed anyways.
