05 duramax lly 197xxx miles. Just purchased this and was going over everthing mechanical. Turbo is making funny sound that I tried to capture in these videos. Also did a turbo shaft play check. What do you guys think? Ticking time bomb? Do you think this is bearing noise in the video?

I can't hear anything in the video that sounds alarmingly. Sounds like a diesel. How is oil pressure? You could always cut a filter apart and look for bearing material. If it's coming apart that will tell the tale.

The turbo looks a kinda sloppy but it doesn't appear[/I that it's rubbing the housing. Side to side movement isn't as much of an indicator as front to back or axial play. It should have zero or almost imperceptible movement front to rear.

How you're planning on using the truck would determine how worried I'd be about it.

I had another video where you could hear the noise better but was having trouble getting them to upload. I'll see if I can get that one up later. The truck is my daily don't tow or haul very often.

Oil pressure is good holds around 60 when driving drops down during idle which I think is normal. Builds 20 psi boost under heavy acceleration. Truck pulls good but never had one before so couldn't be sure how well. It has a edge juice with attitude but I just use it for mileage and gauges. I'm kind of afraid to run other settings at this point. Egt sensor is bad at the moment and needs replaced. Planning on replacing that soon just worried about health of turbo.

Don't worry just drive it.... When I bought my first lb7 it lost the idler pully 2 days later and busted a hole in the radiator..... Only thing ever happened from 175k to 256 k when I sold it.
