I did a LMM swap almost 3 years ago, definitely worth every penny and every ounce of blood (there will be plenty!)
In the middle of the project I swore I would NEVER do THAT again.
I just picked up a 07 LBZ for my next conversion, I think the LBZ is the best as more of the stuff I want like cruise control is in the ECM, I plan on using the GM inst. panel in this conversion, the post LMM engines get too tall, the LP5 would be practically impossible to install.
Also the Basic or A1 HMMWV is by far the best to start with as they have the lowest ratio diffs (2.56) and do not ride like a brick on a skate board like the A2s and ECVs do. (ECV is the worst with the 3.07 gears as the big GM transfer case has been documented multiple times to handgrenade)
Here is the link to my build thread which I am very glad I did because I suffer from CRS big time.
Well hopefully this will not be the epitaph for this project, I thought a thread with the progress and possible pitfalls that lay ahead might be interesting to someone, constructive criticism, hints and comments from actual experience will be of course welcome. Some of this has been told before...
