Ok, so I have had a iPod, nano, and an iPhone.

I am looking for something directed more to just music in the truck. Sometimes on me if I am out doing something. I like the iPod because of its simplicity and use for music, however at the apple store today, I looked at the itough and liked the size and CUI. I already have a droid phone and have apps and such and dont want to have my music on it because battery life i more important.

I got rid of my nano back in the day for the ipod, then got rid of it for portable xm, then when I got the iphone, I didnt like a few things about it (1st gen and lacked picture messaging and exchange).

So anyway the GF is looking for a bday present for me and I cant decide if I am interested in a touch or pod. Anyone have both or an iphone and a ipod. Let me know your thoughts. Like I said its 99% for music. I like the wi-fi ability of the touch, but then again I have my droid for that stuff.

Oh, and my site and Duramaxdiesels is the new homepage on most all the ipads and mac computers (a good 7 machines) at the iStore today after I left :D

If you want something for music, look at the Zune HD. IMO, it blows the iPod away. Has HD Radio tuner, HDMI Video out, WiFi, responsive... I love mine. It's also cheaper... 8GB iPod touch is $199. 16GB Zune HD is $199 (regular, it's on sale for $179 at bestbuy right now) & 32GB is $269 (on sale for $249 right now). The Zune software is far better than iTunes. Doesn't install tons of other junk and services.

I would get the iTouch over an iPod. We've had both. I bought an iTouch for my youngest kid and I can't keep my hands off of it. I need one for myself.

I've had my Ipod for like 4 years and shes still tickin. Simple and hold tons of music. Mines a 60 GB which was the biggest you could buy at the time, I've yet to use more than half the memory. Itouch's are cool but seem to have a shorter battery life.

I have had both the classic and the touch. And folks are correct in saying that the classic is easier to operate on the road. That said the touch has some nice features outside the truck as well. It really depends on which way you would use it more, and if you have an aftermarket stereo that supports video. My classic is packed with kids movies for the backseat passengers.

Also, if you do go for the touch, you may want to hold off. They are supposed to bring out an updated version, according to mac rumors.

Oh, one more thing, check out the education store on-line on apples website, and the refurb section as well. You might get a better deal.

Strictly music; iPod G2 Touch 32GB
Music and Video; iPod G6 Classic 160GB

I run my iPhone 32GB all the time. I prefer one toy to tote that I can take anywhere. I have four iPods, the iPhone 3GS and an iPad. I will agree the iPad was just a bad idea. It either the most expensive Kindle or Digital Picture Frame in the world!!

haha, yea no iPad. That thing is plain stupid.

It's what I'm on right now. For surfing the web, listening to music, and watching video's, you can't beat it. Not to mention battery life is unreal.

Here is my previous take on the iPad....

its not a PC....

Its basically an itouch.

Oversized and overpriced.

The only reason it will do well is because of all the iXxxxx bandwagon weirdos, but its pretty much pointless IMO. it cant do what a laptop can do, but its too big to be an itouch.

More like iFail
Look at the price, why are they even considering a 16gb device

I know I know. Some of us have to learn the hard way that some toys aren't as great as the hype.

Luckily I did not bite on the iPhone 4G. I just got screwed on the force-update to OS4 on my iPhone.

I must say I looked at the iPhone 4 and it wasnt too bad. I think it should have been apples standard to begin with. Just think where the iPhone 4 could be today if they started with that to begin with. I mean, hell it still lacks simple things that are avail in a cheap cell phone today...:D

As far as the physical design though, I like the iPhone4, but not much else.

Anyway, back on topic...

I am still leaning towards the itouch. That way when I am bored I can be on the net and not use my cell and drain the battery as quick. Maybe Ill flip a coin lol

You may want to hold off until after the first week of September if you are going that route. The more I read on Mac related sites, the more they talk of the touch adopting some of the iphone technology. Camera, face time, and some speculation on multitasking.

That said, Apple is running an online special, buy a mac and get an ipod for free. It's called the back to school special, and they ran it the last time they upgraded the itouch. I suppose they were trying to reduce their stock of the previous generation.
