Hey guys i just wanted to post this up to hopefully save someone a ton of headache.

long story short after a couple mods my trans had a horrible whine, checked the usual found nothing so i pulled it out for an inspection. found nothing, Mike L and I talked a bit and when i mentioned what internal filter he had it threw up a red flag.

This is the important part, if you ever get an internal filter that is solid black plastic and it doesnt have one opening that you can see the element and another that has a metal screen(the bypass) it will cause a nasty whine, i only noticed this with high trans pressure if under 250 probably wont have this issue.

not bashing in any way whatsoever, as I get along with the PPE crew well. The filter that comes with their shallow pan is the filter that caused me all this trouble.

Hope this helps someone in the future.

Here in the picture you can see the the ribs protruding into the filter element from the back side. This indicates the filter was trying to suck itself inside out. I believe the micron rating is way too low for this kind of application and without a bypass valve it caused cavitation and therefore a nasty whine. Bad design.
