You don't have to use it. A lot of people attach the hard line and pull with it. #8 cylinder up by the firewall may be a pain to get. You can get ahold of most of them with channel locks also. The tool makes it a lot easier if used correctly.

I just did my injectors. Do yourself a favor and buy the injectors from Brent at Lincoln Diesel Specialties. Get the injectors and master install kit. He goes way above and beyond in his customer service and help while you do your install. The removal tool wasn't necessary. Mine came out fine with the HP line attached. All but one that was stuck that is.

I highly suggest you do not drive the truck if you are filling your crankcase with fuel. its a very quick and easy way to kill the bearings in your bottom end if you run it.
