Were they by any chance the same material as the Hi Energy clutches they use in the 4L60? I've heard a lot of good things about them in the research I've been doing lately.
Not the same lining Josh. The high energy 4l60 is very good stuff. We found that 6 BW high energys would out do 10 Alto red eagles in the 4l60.
The problem was thicker steels and thinner frictions disepate heat much better than thin frictions and thin steels.
I had Alto make some changes to the C3/C4 clutches. They are on the way. I'm going to build a couple of more Alli's with these clutches and try and destroy them. Dimitri should be able to handle that. 
I'm sending my buddy Dave Goerend a set so he can try and destroy them on his dyno. He's going to run the trans on the dyno and start dropping pressure in incraments untill we kill them. Then he will do the same with the Red Eagles and see the difference.
