I did a before and after test. The before was the biggest waste of 25k in a truck I have ever seen! All the "good parts" and it just didn't run what I thought it should have. Don't get me wrong, It run great just not the power I had wanted. Now! Its scary fast! I have been in low 8 sec street cars on 10.5's that wasn't this fun to drive. You had better have it pointed the way you want to go before you hit it. It really is that much better. If I had to guess it added 100 to 150 hp! I kid you not it made a "WORLD" of differance! Like I have said before maybe a LBZ is different but the before and after is just crazy. The top end power just never stops. I think i'm just giddy because I finally found something that made a big differance. I can't wait for the Suncoast event to try it on the track and the dyno. Now! i'm excited about going to Florida and meeting some new people. Jeff

Hey Pat, I did a before and after test with your injectors ... also I did adjustments with the nozzle flows that not more as 0.5% differences between 8 Injectors are ... I can post the measurement sheet if you want ;)

Yes, the balance was fine, it just didn't improve the acceleration when we tested it, so I stuck them back on the shelf. Can't say why, one way or the other.

I think injectors really help above 3500rpm. You only have so much time to get the fuel in. With stockers and big pulses your spray more after TDC. My fire houses cure that problem!:) The much lower duty cycle seems to not only smooth out the revs it also really help with sustaining rpm. With stockers running high (4000+) rpm for more than a couple seconds the truck would start to run funny. The high duty cycle was over taxing the FICM IMHO. No issues with that now.

so what about pulling where, depending on the track and setup, you may not see 3500 RPM's or barely 4000 RPM's very best? can they be tuned to be more effective lower in the powerband?

I am set up to run 4000rpm+. And I do. It runs just fine down low. But I try to stay away from pulling there. Dragging the engine down thru its peak torque is not a good idea as it is wicked hard on parts.

I do not reccomend LB7 injectors as large as mine. I had to do a lot of tuning to get them to work well down low. 45% injectors work well with very little need to change tuning.

My 50%'s ran just fine with zero tuning. I put mine in when i had my old Bully Dog PMT and usually drove around in stock tune and ran just fine. It still felt real strong as stock. With a canned tune loaded it ran like a raped ape but real smokey. EFI is the way to do big sticks :D IMO i wouldnt run this of sticks on a street truck with out special tuning cause of smoke:D

I feel with some tuning changes my mileage will be on par with stock injectors. I just haven't had time for my own truck.

Jeff, I also felt a big improvement when the injectors went in the truck. .3 in the 1/4 mile on a stock CP3 truck is a huge improvement.

I reduced timing and pulse width a bunch while running all those 11.7 passes. I highly recommend tuning changes when changing injectors, especially with a stock engine.

I wish some would could figure out our lmm injectors. I have a spare set to go bigger with but dont want to be the test subject :) What would be a good size to go with. 25-35 bigger ? I guess it will depend on wht size are injectors are allready

any opinions on changing spray patterns? IIRC stock spray patterns vary from lb7, lly, lbz, and lmm due to different pilot injection times and cold start features. am i correct in saying that with higher hp tuning and less-to-none pilot inj. all the fuel should be sprayed directly at the bowl? how many holes is working best?

Running the 90hp Dynomite sticks in mine I was running a 1960 PW and ~ 26* of timing on my 12.3 runs. I was on a stock LBZ CP3 and lift pump and couldn't go bigger PW without losing Rail Pressure durastically. Got the dual CP3 kit to fix that problem but before i got it installed something in the motor let go. I'm thinking a valve is what started the failure but we'll see on teardown. On stock manifolds and up-pipes my EGTs would spike 1400 then drop back to 1350 during a 1/4 mile pass - after the headers and up-pipes and reduced vane position I couldn't get the EGTs to go over 1250* no matter what I did. Never had it smoke at idle and it ran clean all the way down the track; it only smoked if I stomped it from a low RPM.

The only way I would run bigger injectors is with EFI Live with PW and timing reduced for them. I think with good balance rates extrude honed injectors will prove to make more effecient power at over 500hp than stock injectors.
